I know a lot of this has been said in the past I'm sure but just bare with me while I try to compile all of my thoughts about this beta into one thread. After all, the more they see complaints the more likely they are to fix them. Hopefully they look at these forums often and actually listen to feedback.
One of the most awesome but yet so god awful things about this game is the loadout and skill system. I love the idea, I really do...but I can't help but feel it's all too painful. Low cap sucks, you can get it in a few matches. There are so many useful skills...yet you don't have any skill points to throw at them. You see a new weapon that's barely any better than the gun you're using and you're thinking "YES, I want to use this gun...please please please please...." but then come to a sudden realization that it'll take you days to get this one oh so unsatisfactory upgrade and then you're back out on the field wondering when your next "upgrade" will be.
It's understandable that they don't want people to get ahead of the curve fast, and I'm used to grinding in games but I feel that if you want to keep players from reaching this goal, make it easier at lower levels and make it more of a grind with higher levels. I wouldn't have a problem getting 30k points here and there but getting like 30k points max a day, and trying to upgrade a 170k skill? That's insanity at its finest. Plus there's tons and tons of skills, and tons of weapons and ways to play the game.... hell I tried to incorporate sniping into my assault riffle loadout and it's a PAIN just getting my assault riffle character up let alone trying to add a secondary weapon.
Then you get into actual battles.
This is probably one of the more frustrating things. I keep spawning near enemies as well as getting double/tripple teamed. Getting shot by one foe usually results in instant death, but 3 it's just rage inducing. Then you have map collision being awful, grenade throwing mechanic is weird, gun likes to unzoom for some reason, game doesn't play very smooth and no matter who I shoot no one seems to die as fast as me. Many of the gameplay features (in actual battles) on this game don't work very well and are pretty dang clunky. When trying to throw a grenade I'll stand still and throw it and it just moves to the left for some reason, it'll bounce off of invisible walls, and sometimes even bounce way too dang far. Went to throw it on an objective and it bounced off the back wall and came all the way back to me, forcing me to just sit there and wait for my own grenade to blow up before I could move.
Shooting is hella annoying because I'll shoot people and it won't take out any HP or I'll end up dying even though my strafe is nasty. I'll get gunned down in a split second even if I start shooting them first... It can't be the gear, it's too much of an advantage..I finally got the level 2 assault riffle and I'm still taking like a whole clip to kill one guy, though technically it should be 10-11 bullets.
Sniping is also hell. I have the same problem with not being able to hurt people. This guy was standing there taking a base and I'm off in the rocks trying to stop him... I shoot him 9 times with the sniper riffle and nothing..he doesn't even take damage, but you can see his shield react to each shot. Maps are also not very... friendly...for anything. Sniping blows because there's rocks, buildings, fire, smoke and all kinds of crap in your way...then you have to deal with the fact that your scope sucks and wabbles if you move even just a little bit. Such bad graphics you can't even tell what you're hitting at a certain distance. Names appear through walls so it's impossible to tell in some situations if they're in your scope or on the other side of the map. Another thing I noticed when I was having a snipe off is that the name tag blocks SO MUCH. I was trying to shot this guy, he had such low health and he kept inching out but I couldn't tell if his head was poking out or not... then his teammates start spawning next to him and it becomes a huge name tag mess and I can't tell what's going on.
Seems like there's so much going on that's causing this game to feel really ******, but I can't help but be addicted....I keep quitting because I hate how certain things play out but in a few seconds I'll find myself coming back and wanting to try it again...
This should really be posted in the discussion section,
Sorry no hate but there's a ton of these threads going up.
I'd rather read on feedback and requests of single items, no lists or pages haha.
Edit and yes this game is addicting, is still only a beta, most of the rough edges will be gone eventually.
And with the next build we may see like "a whole different game" which is why I wish open beta happens when the new build came. Not before. |

yes you are dying faster than anyone from closed beta a good deal of us have been at this for a year and got a small headstart on SP as CCPs way of saying hey thanks for going through the hell with us.
now if you want to survive and not waste time look at the skills and (this might come as a bit of a shock) make a plan and stick to it. this is not cod or BF3 it's something freakish and new that hates you more than you hate ambushes spawn. but if you stick with it and learn your way around you will feel more accomplished than anytime you have beaten CODXXXOXXOXIXIXOXI (though technically you cannot BEAT this game but eh you can get good and kill bittervets like me)
Dude we're not bittervets, damn it we're blueberry classics! |

I've only run into one really really high end gun, but even at that the damage isn't that much higher on level 3, 4 and 5 weapons. But I'm forced to stick with one plan, and the plan lasts a few days because even though I get 5 to 6k SP a match, the cap is really really low. Certain weapons like laser weapons, shotguns and HMGs seem way too OP too... lots of things seem silly now that I think about it. I'll be sniping off in the distance and be shredded by an assault riffle...get killed in a couple shots by a shotgun at medium range...hell I try to distance myself from HMGs but they shred my health instantly at almost any range. But it's not the whole "learning" thing that has got me bent out of shape. I know some things take some time to learn and I know a lot more about the game now than I do before...it's just the game play feels like it hasn't been looked at enough. People don't take damage sometimes when getting shot (has happened a lot today), spawns are awful in both modes, glitches occur quite a bit, grenades mechanics are completely goofy and don't work anything at all like they should. Just all kinds of things about the meat of this game that drive me nuts, but yet I'm sitting here hoping it all gets fixed but it's very doubtful.
The thing is since the Newberry arrival our forums have become......well exploding with OP threads and that's crap.
Any blueberry classic knows there are many tactics and weapons to counter everything in the game atm.
The problem is everyone wants 1 class that will rule them all, instead on relying on their other team mates in different class's to lay a helping hand as they may be the counter.
That and at current most people are skilling into AR which doesn't give enough diversity to have the counters and balance like a team game should.
There's a reason why in eve every fleet has a specific fleet comp so they have a certain number of specialized ships to do 1 job and counter another fleets comps if possible.
It's all strategy and people used to the normal fps game will not understand why they need to think the battle out and not just run in holding down r1 expecting instant kills. |

Ah. Well, to be perfectly honest with you the game doesn't seem very strategy friendly. I mean outside of your traditional FPS strategy that is. Obviously sniper riffle is your long ranged beast, etc etc. But there's not much access to other weapons and loadouts. I mean, you REALLY have to be dedicated to one play style if you choose to play that way and it's impossible to just grab a weapon and use it and be like "hey I could use this against these people who do this and it'll be awesome" because you need skills to unlock it, and then skills to make the weapon class better...then eventually it becomes obsolete...hell it can become obsolete right off the bat if you purchase the wrong weapon. But there's no way to tell how certain weapons and loadouts work because you can't just go in and pick what you want. If you want to use a certain weapon you need to spend tons of points making sure your fitting can even apply the weapon then you get into battle and it sucks and you're just like "oh f*ck" I mean, eventually I'd like to have my character be like you said, have specialization in almost every area (or a few select areas to make my guy godly on how I play) but I know that's going to take a long long time. Most of the problem I have though, is it costs a LOT of points just to get a level 2 assault riffle which is just BARELY any better than the one I start out with... not counting armor perks, side arm perks, sprinting perks, things like rapid reload and other things that would help just a tiny bit but wouldn't make you OP. Then in the mean time you're getting put up with terrible teammates and put up against people with better gear than you and it's just frustrating grinding and grinding and grinding to get ONE minor buff that'll help you out in battle and you catch up just a little bit ...but then other people could be unlocking another perk that makes them that much better or have tons and tons of perks to help them out even more.
I just posted a thread here, please read.
