When I play medic ye shall know me by the fact that I throw grenades that annihilate your shields then start punking with a mass driver (grenade launcher)
I carry a gun that I can lock onto friendlies that repairs damaged armor.
i carry nanohives that replentish ammo and grenades.
I carry a nanoinjector that revives my fallen comrades.
it's called the minmatar logistics armor. it requires about 450,000 ISK for the skillbook and about 47,000 Skill Points to access.
When I play heavy (on the same character mind you) I utilize the Armor-based fatsuits, because I do better armor tanking. go figure.
The skillbook costs a bit less than 800,000 ISK and requires 47,000 Skill Points to access the first heavy dropsuit that sucks less than militia.
With this suit I can carry an HMG, or a Forge Gun (those skillbooks cost extra, no one starts with them and the militia forge is a bad joke with a You Suck Forever punchline) and the heavy suit is the only armor that gets access to them. Fatsuits pay for this privelege by being slower than a fat kid on Plysical Fitness test Day. You turn slow, run slower than assault suits can walk, and your only saving grace comes when you can sucker someone else into fighting on your terms (hint: don't stand there and try to mexican standoff with me or you lose). Scout suits with shotguns are more or less the thing that instamurders me.
When I play assault I (You guessed it) paid for the better than militia crapsuits with yet more ISK and skillpoints. I routinely eat fatties for breakfast, massacre scouts and render the Emperor's Mercy upon enemy Logibros with a scrambler Pistol because CCP won't let me use the Bolt Pistol in this game.
Assaults are the most versatile combat suits, but if someone can force you to fight on their terms you need to get good quick or your ass is barbecued.
And finally, the scout suit, AKA the cap-stealing, fast-moving, psychopathic ninja assassin asshats who use heavies for leisurely target practice. I (you get the point, buy skillbooks and get better than militia armor) do stuff.
Scouts with a couple profile dampeners pretty much can go anywhere with impunity. Least likely to be spotted they are phenomenal at getting into poorly-watched places and capping points, stealing turrets, and merrily assassinating you, your friends, and firstborn children with a shotgun.
Does this spell things out clearly enough? This is DUST 514, the tactics are based by role. The weapons and equipment are balanced for team play not solo run and gun. This is a good thing because bluntly most FPS games its a pack of solo idiots who think tactics means "shoot faster than the other guy."
You may shoot faster than my heavy, but you better kill me before my weapon spools up or you are DEAD. |
