It would be like the cinematic when you start the game where the merc is all like "what is this place?".
The redline would be relieved and there would only be a medium vehicle with a cru in it and a scanner to locate points of interest.
It would be like mass effect 1 exploration online :D
oh... my.. I do believe I have the vapors! You sir, are a man after my own heart (no homo). never played ME, but what you just described made me giddy with hope. It could be kinda like scanning for complexes in EVE. you'd scan a planet, if something popped up, you could go, and with varying degrees of dificulty (simple mining/exploration, to killing WAVES and WAAAAVES of drones) you could earn anything from salvage to ISK! maybe even find a way to make it so someone can scan, see someones at the site, pop in and try to take the site by force! Oh man... listen to me... pratteling on like a scoolgirl. what can I say, I'm a man who digs some quality MMO-style sandbox PVE/PVP!
IMO, If this "Excavation" type game mode/freeroam is implemented into the game, it should be a combination of PVP and PVE. When i say this i mean, i think you and a squad should be able to choose a planet to excavate and mine materials from. When you get on the planet to explore and scavenge materials, there should be AI Drones patrolling the planet, along with enemy players of a rival corporation/alliance. Also, if the corporation has enough money, they should be able to invest in a mining ground/ material gathering factory thing, slowly increasing the corporations overall ISK. After accumulating a fair amount of material compounds, other corps can invade your compounds and take them over, by sending in mercenaries or by sending in powerful AI drones that the rival corp invested in creating. If the corp defending the compound doesn't have many mercs online to protect it, it could have fairly powerful drones to help defend (also purchased and deployed by defending corp) |
