Ship boarding is in the works.
Basically an EVE pilot can fly with a can-o-mercs module (CRU that can penetrate a ship hull) and can fire that module at another ship.
There could be any number of mission types.
Even though I would rather just concentrate on getting Planetary warfare working before heading into space, I too was thinking about how cool it would be if one of those super caps suddenly just disintegrated. And it was Dust Bunnies that did it.
Or if mercs could wheel a pod through the ship, hack into system, disconnect the original pilot and turn over control of the ship to the Corporation that hired them...

It would be sooweet if Dust mercs could use starmap and see EVE ships within the starmap.
And then EVE pilots could all buy PS 3 so they could get the best available intel on ship movement? Sony approves this idea...
Edit* to get back on topic, this thread will always crop up until they actually implement ship boarding. Or give an unequivocal answer that they will never implement that sort of interraction between the two games.
The thing about the super blob fight and ship boarding that interested me was how time dilation and ship boarding could work together, or against each other..
RIght now in a big fight you have massive ships sitting there for hours before they get taken down or can fly away , or take down the other ships, and the battle rages on for hours and hours beyond that and can become even more drawn out the more ships show up to fight.
What if (because wormhole tech, or 'ancient aliens', that is , even more sleeper tech) a boarding party could circumvent time dilation and take a ship out of the battle independent of time dilation.
So you have a massive ship that is sitting there soaking up damage and blowing other ships out of space and all of the pilots are expecting it to anchor the battle for a long time and suddenly, poof, gone.
You could use dust mercies as a form of germ warfare in space. A sort of fast acting ebola for big spaceships.
Capsuleers have grown complacent and we are here to change their world forever. |
