Ideally I think everyone to be stuck in their squad chat, and that push to talk option to be removed so that the button to be used as a way for squad leaders to switch to a squad leaders only channel to broadcast and strategize with other squad leaders (as described in this thread).
I'm guessing the current in-battle chat system won't be changed, so I have an idea of how to improve it: I don't like having push-to-talk ON because it means I have to hold a button every time I need to say something, and I might need to talk when I'm in the middle of a gun fight. I don't like having push-to-talk OFF because someone may walk in the room while I'm playing, and start talking me; my conversations will be overheard, and its annoying for players listening to me.
Solution: Have a toggle option for push to talk. Press the button and it turns talk ON, and it stays ON until you press it again. This way you can quickly enable and disable talk without having to hold a button. |

Don't most Mics have their own mute button which basically does the same thing? |

Mine doesn't, though I shouldn't have to take my hand off my controller while in a battle. |

Being able to toggle the mic would make push to talk more useable. I usually leave ptt on mostly just to lurk on comms because no one is on team or squad chat in most public games. |

Ptt stays I dont want to hear ur background static or music. As for the hotkey for on off no most mics have a mute button and its 3 secounds to press the mute button. As for the current battle chat it does need to be reworked and if anything I wouldnt mind a hotkey to swap channels |

People can already just turn push to talk off and blast music and static by turning off push-to-talk. |

I have a similar request, so posting it in this thread.
When PTT is off I would like the same directional pad button (currently the left directional button) to be Push To Mute.
I prefer an open mic when I'm running with some friends or in a corp squad / team. But, there are times when a quick mute option would come in handy. For example, wanting to have a quick, private word with a family member.
It would essentially be a toggle. When PTT is on, PTM is off. When PTM is on, PTT is off.
I can't believe this would take a lot of work to implement and hope to see this or something similar in-game in the future.
Regards.

+1 I would love this feature. I don't know why this isn't the default. |
