I like to use sniper in every and any fps that I had played before . Sniping in dust is a challenging thing to do , any tips I can get to be better ? I think I already invest some skill points wrongly , any way to get back to sniper role ? |

You have to be more specific than that. How did you invest skill points wrongly? What are you doing currently as a sniper? What suit and loadout are you using etc. |

I invested some to AR and some thing that I don't even know what it is . I choose arbiter at the beginning , and I using a scout drop suit and nano hives . Now thinking to skill up for a profile damper

It isn't bad to skill up to other skills other than sniping, you won't probably be doing that all the time. But yes, a scout dropsuit would be nice for a sniper class, along with a profile dampener. Having an armor repairer along with your nanohives would also be quite handy, it lets you heal your armor after you have been shot by other snipers too. |

Scout suits are glass cannons to be fair. On you're way to a certain place and meet an heavy and BAM! you're dead in a flash so make sure to get some skills into armor and shields so you can survive more. As well as the sniper rifle proficency make sure to get the light weapon skills from the marketplace to improve you're reload speed, range (doesn't feel needed though) and other stuff. Also put some points into you're sidearm as well nice to have a little backup. |

Invest skill points into dropsuit command and profile dampeners. Personally, I won't be too concerned with armor or shields as a scout because you should be avoiding head to head gun fights. Even with more armor and shields, you won't survive a fight with your sniper and side arm with a heavy and probably even an assault if they've seen you first. Take the long way around, decrease your chances of running into anyone else, and save your sp on things that matter like light weapon sharpshooter (which increases your maximum effective range), light weapon capacity (increases your total ammo, but not clip size), and the sniper skill itself to decrease scope sway, which is eliminated all together after a few seconds when crouched.
Putting cover on one side of you and a hill to your back is a good choice for setting up shop. Keep an eye on an objective and an eye on "high traffic areas". Call out movement if you've got a mic and UVT, warn team mates of incoming hostiles (especially those of the HAV variety), and warn your team mates about other snipers even before you take a shot at them just in case you miss. Tell us if you kill them. I'd rather assume they're still there instead of run between objectives and get downed while hiding on apparently the wrong side of what looks like a shipping container. Intel doesn't get you WP, but it makes you a better team asset. Remember: you're the guy up in the hills with the binoculars. Most of the others won't be.
Oh, and putting a few skill points into a different weapon is fine. Please do have a back up plan. |

Militia equipment is your friend. They may not be as good as the 'real' thing, but at least they're usable. A light damage modifier will help you to do more damage, and profile dampeners keep you hidden. Apparently the charge rifle is great for killing in as few hits as possible, but I haven't tried it myself lately. If you can, go for a headshot as I've found a sniper rifle round to the head will kill even heavies in one shot, but if you're not 100% sure you'll get a headshot, just aim for the body instead and try to get a second hit as quick as possible.
If you find yourself being ambushed, run as fast as you can. Scout suits are made of paper and even a single guy in an Assault suit will tear through you in an open fight. Use cover, evade, and don't run in a straight line for too long. Zigzagging will help keep some of those bullets off of you. You're faster than everyone else on the field, take advantage of it. |

What about being a sniper with an assault dropsuit? Is it too bad? I made 2 fittings for this suit, and am testing them out. 1 with a sniper rifle, and the other one with the tactical assault rifle, which is for mid range. |

If you snipe in other games, you are probably used to bullet drop and leading targets. In dust sniper rounds travel in a straight line faster than the speed of light. Max range is 599m with no points in sharpshooter. |

I haven't tried the sniper with an assault drop-suit so I cant comment.
Dust you need more than one suit, more than one play style. Pairing up a Sniper, and a Tactical AR is a good idea.
Right now I am Sniper/Logi. My rule is keep it simple. Go for basic skills. If it is a x1 skill, max it out. Everything else you need get to L3 till you find out what you need. CPU and PG are going to be important.

You could try it. The extra slots could come in handy, but you'll sacrifice the scout's strength which is the inherent low scan profile. I have seen heavy snipers before. I've never used a heavy dropsuit, but I think they have more high powered slots for weapon damage modifiers. I could be mistaken, though. I don't mind being corrected. :) |

I use an assault dropsuit with: Base sniper rifle. my trusty Scrambler pistol. Armor repair systems Nano hives, And Damage mods for the Sidearm and for the rifle
My style of sniping is for efficient lone wolfing, moving from hide to hide. In other matches, i will provide overwatch for my squad in large maps ( Manus peak is a good example ).
Digiop's tips make very good advice, take it to heart. to add a few more:
Find a good balance between a view of the battle and effective cover. recent times prove that the location with the most complete view of the Battle will often be the most targeted. while the locations with the most effective cover will hinder your ability to provide overwatch.
Set up nanohives far from your nest, but make it so that its easy for you to resupply. use that to your advantage. set one up in locations most commonly believed to be a sniper's nest.
The most important one: when your position is compromised ( and you survive/die from said encounter ), dont snipe from that same location. Its better to find another pre-planned hide to snipe from.
good luck friend, and Safe Hunting |

Thanks for all of the tips and advice , I will try it out . It takes time to get even one skill to level 5 , so it will be fun after getting all of it level 5 . I think heavy sniper is great although I haven't have chance of using it , it can tank when someone came to you .

for re-emphasis do not put a nano hive on your position put it a few dozen meters away (away from traffic as well) it is a scanner beacon, if someone sees that on a hill or on top of a building they will look for a sniper there longer than just a cursory glance.
Reload Reload Reload, if you don't have a viable target (right frigging now), reload.
investing in long range scanning is useful as well, the karat is easier to spot in anti-sniper duty.
