Hello, before I start I will just explain the reason and purpose for the channel as the topic heading isn't very clear.
Note: all references to "Dust 514 Board" are to "an unofficial committee set up by the community
Due to recent discussions arising for a dust representation on CSM (Not going to happen any time soon) and the rise in demand for the organisation of this, I've decided to start the path for future potential candidates to help create a role and a name for themselves amongst the community. Note that this is in no way official, but it will help the community gain trust in anyone who does want to run for the role in the future. So to start off I am creating a Dust 514 CSM portal for those interested in being on the board and an IRC channel for those members to discuss topics.
By this point I must stress that we have no idea what CCP will want from any Dust community delegate(s) in future, this is an unofficial, community driven proposal that will not function without the community support.
If you would like access to the dustCSM channel - please note, this is not for general chat, just for the purpose of discussing how the CSM would operate. all minutes would be transferred to the site for logging and we can act from there.
so: Those wanting to be put forward for election, please state that you are interested in running - I will add you to the auto invite list and give you auto voice for the channel, this should separate those running for the board from those who have an interest in the results.
to join the channel: 1) use an IRC Client (mirc or dust514.org chat) 2) add server: irc.coldfront.net port 6667 and connect 3) register your nickname (/msg nickserv register *password* *email*) 4) identify yourself to the nickname (/msg nickserv identify *password*)
Once the board has been setup, I'll remove every non csm member, pass on channel privileges and leave. The csm channel itself should be for CSM members only unless community members are specifically invited.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask, I am pretty quick with responses.
People I am hoping will show interest:
Quote:Jenza, Zionshad, Kain Spero, Ironwolf, Nova Knife, Grideris, Movado, QuickGloves, Various other leaders / representatives of corporations and of course community members who are interested in such topics.
I know I'm an imperfect, and thus not very popular, but please note this is more personal than corporations and everyone should treat everyone as an unbiased individual, the channel will be muted for general community members while those running will have a free voice - any questions in channel can be directed to the operators, or those voiced.
I hope you will help in the process of this and look forward to any replies.
also note: No I am not running for CSM/this unofficial board, I just want to see a smooth transition into an organised board. |

Three Double-A Batteries wrote:Why do dust players need to play eve to post in Jita Forum Gabfest forum to campaign for CSM?
Same server, why can't you launch a platform there or post there without buying ANOTHER game thingy?
How's that for the start of your campaign?
I don't have a campaign, I just want to see those interested in going for a community representative role (official or otherwise) have a better medium to discuss their ideas.... and actually discuss, document and present it to the community.
I think you're referring to zionShads post? I think that's because the current CSM is for EVE and it's interactions for Dust, which I am not really interested in - I am interested in Dust and it's interaction with EVE. The dust forums are the best place to get interest from dust players, we don't need an official CSM panel that has no relation to the dust community to tell us what we want discussed. We need dust representatives (official, unofficial is irrelevant, as long as we put them in that place and listen).
Sitting waiting for CCP to make the call is only going to make that setup harder.
Nova there may be multiple people trying to set something like this up - this is only a good thing, those wanting to run for such a position NEED the mediums to get their voice heard, this is just another one of those. |

my issue with this is that it's reactive to something that desperately needs proactive people.
We on the most part are completely new to a game with such deep politics (at least those that haven't fully grasped EVE) and will make plenty of mistakes. But we shouldn't laugh those attempts at doing something away, we need to actively promote these attempts and give them more flexability to promote the communities ideas.
at the moment it's threads of frustration, trolling and abuse. But if you see past the crap there are great ideas coming out but are far too soon to be discussed / taken by CCP and get pushed to the back by threads that shouldn't be at the top of the heap.
There are people here that want to discuss our issues with the game and want to represent us. zionShad is one of those people and sure he may have had a rough couple of days but those are his mistakes to make and learn from. We are not a forgiving community and those that accept and keep trying should be noticed and given the chance. Which is why I am going ahead with what I've said - if zionShad wants to do something I will help him get out there, the same with everyone else who wants to help the community become something more than thread after thread of the same frustration of not being heard. It doesn't need to be CCP that shows an interest in what we are saying, but at the moment it is because we keep putting off putting anyone else in that position because the reactive / pessimist among us don't want to try.
So I'm saying to the guys listed above and to those I don't yet know about - I'm setting this up for you, it'll be a good medium to help you get noticed in the community, there are other ways like C3, team speak and more and I suggest you take them too. Only those in all I feel will be the best for this position and my support. |

The unofficial dust CSM website will be done by tomorrow, I'll put the link here when it's complete. I'll be running it but take no part of the CSM, post there or otherwise.
If the elected CSM would like someone else to take over, I will pass over credentials. |

I'm just saying !
How they plan to do it is up to them, the main thing here is that we have tools for those who want to get involved.
Dent I'll need your registered IRC nickname

Great, as long as they have a way to communicate with each other for the purpose then I think we're doing what we need.
PS I mentioned nova because it's nova, where there is dust, he's there :) so I think he'll be interested in any sort of development |

Foley Jones wrote:What exactly is the CSM? Been hearing it around alot
It's (in some form) an elegected group to represent the community to discuss and resolve issues the community / ccp raise. The EVE CSM is some often sent to Iceland for CCP to ask their opinion on their road map and if they have any concerns, usually at the same time, those representatives go with their own agendas raised by the community, it sounds nice but it's not easy. |

I'd rather take a proactive approach and do something about it and let the whiners make the posts. |
