started playing when open beta went live but i haven't been in a game where people have used mics and communicated, i have the mic stuff on. is there something else i need to do? |

Most of the players in a custom Corp use a Mic, but they use the voice communication only for the squad. That is why you don't listen to them.
Random players with NPC Corp generally don't use a Mic. |

Probably best to join a corp. Most of them require mics. |

Also most voice comms take place on the squad level so when you join a squad or game make sure you have that active. you will know someone has mic by the little speech bubble beside their name

Many good corps recruit using the team chat in game - so keep putting comms on it and wait to get lucky. |

Just a reminder to all the corps out there. Please move to team chat in battles.
It is something we are working on as a corp as well.
It will help all the new berries.
Just remember back when we all started playing how great it was to finally here someone else on the mics...only to find out they were one the other team.....lol |

Most newbies don't know how to turn their Mics on which is very annoying yet CCP refuse to actually sort it out and switch Voice Comms on when a player first starts. Simple switch CCP, get it together -_- |

Many people won't use a team chat for voice. I however try to be in team chat whenever i can. Also many corps will require you to have a mic to join, so you can join a corp and have plenty of people to talk to. As for which corps, may i suggest mine as an example? |

Team chat doesn't return you to your last channel at the end of the game, hence why people don't like using it (you have to remember to switch it every round).
Type something in team chat to let people know you are there and they are more likely to switch. |

I can't even imagine the disaster of having 16 people (soon to be 24) in team chat with mics, all talking, all buzzing, all babies crying, all echoing everything everybody says, and all coughing over their open mics. 
Corp chat with 16+ people talking can be some serious, nearly incomprehensible, noise pollution.
