So I've been looking for information about the mechanics of salvage and I haven't found much. Does anyone know the formula for getting salvage? Like, if you destroy a tank, you have a 15% chance of blah, if you get 1000 WP or more, your chance of salvage is blah, that kinda stuff. |

The better you are the better things you will get
but what you get (if you get something) is completly random
once i got a 1M tank with 200 wp
another time i got 1 adv Dropsuit and i had 2000wp and was the first of my team |

In my anecdotal experience, it is 90% random with your performance in the match influencing it slightly. |

Random is random.
Sometimes i walk away with 5 VK1's and 2 Core locus grenades (why 2? Tight arseholes.) And somehing i get nothing for the same score /shrug. |

That's not completely true.I've had matches were I went negative,and still ended up getting a Sagaris.
I think as others have said,it's completely random,probably needs to stay that way too.If there was a set formula that was implemented,and people found out about it,it would definitely be abused,and you would degrade team play in favor of getting useful salvage. |

Probably why they've kept it as random. How many people even pay attention to the loot anyway? Half the time i come up with pocket lint, and the other half i'll get a heavy dropsuit that i have no desire nor skill to use. Would be nice if i could at least sell the stuff...  |

I actually love getting salvage,and find it to be like a Secret Santa type of deal.The shear joy or disappointment of what you get is very exciting to me.
I get p!$$ed when I don't get anything.Feels like getting a lump of coal in my stocking. |

There was another thread somewhere talking about this and I'm absolutely certain it's totally random at the moment. Sometimes you get nothing for coming top of the winning team, sometimes you do zero anything and get stuff. Once I even deployed onto the victory screen and got a Surya for not even spawning once. Random. Definitely. |

haha mine is mostly disappointment.. Yea getting stuff is kind of cool, especially when you know it's worth a lot. Kind of a nice bonus to ISK reward, but until i can sell it the loot just sits in my inventory.. |

Don't get me wrong,it's disappointment 90% of the time for me too,but that 10% when I do get something,it's actually useful.They really do need to either implement selling of items,or putting them in a corp armory. |

selling would be nice. 35 Eryx 20+ Prometheus and enough assault VK.0s to fill a very large hanger... if it only would give me stuff more closely related to my role. I mean i wouldn't mind some officer logi tools or a mass driver but all i get are the above and forge guns... |

Why does this keep coming up?
CCP says Salvage does not work as planned currently. It is a place holder with random loot being given out. When we can sell Salvage in the Assets portion of the Market we might be getting real Salvage.
Real Salvage would be determined like EVE. Random results for all equipment on the field. The items that were not destroyed are Salvage. Otherwise, just DUST my friend.
None of this matters now as you cannot sell anything and the Salvage is totally random. Until you can spec up to use it all it manages to do is clutter up inventory and Fit Build screens. |
