What is everyones experience with vehicles being damaged? I can't quite figure out when the damage is the worst, if it hurts shields more than armor, if it is a direct function of speed.
I was pretty lagged the other day while trying to experiment spider tanking with a fellow MLT Sica, the screen flickered as the Sica in front of me was taking damage. Next thing I know the tank is somouldering after going from half shield to dead. The death notice just said that the driver died, not by any fire, so I assume it was a collision. Do taps from friendly tanks cause that much damage? Should they? |

Any collision between a vehicle and anything else can potentially cause an explosive solution to the calculations. Basically, yeah you touch it, boom you die.
Drop Ships have it worse as they are more fragile than a HAV anyway. Just landing them can be iffy for a new pilot.
HAVs have several glitches in the maps that, if a HAV is driven over the glitch the HAV will explode. Instantaneously.
If you see (died) it can mean that the burning HAV killed the crew versus an actually credited hit from some round. Technically it is accurate, as the round lowered them to near zero but the fire killed the HAV and the crew. Thus died instead of 80GJ Rail Gun wielded by some disgruntled Red.
If you experience some random destruction of your HAV, other vehicle or your Merc gets stuck in the ground than you need to report a bug against the map. There is a map section at the highest level of the Dust 514 Forums. I have reported several and they are slowly getting addressed. |

Yes.

No.
If you want to experiment, crash vehicles head-on or from the back. Hitting a vehicle on its side will almost never kill it. Hitting a vehicle in a head on collision almost always results in a "boom". |
