Hey guys,
What would you guys think of CCP adding a little indicator to the spawn screen that automatically calculates your current projected earnings from the match you're in, then subtracts from that the total cost of all the equipment that you've lost so far during the match, and then displays the end result (profit) at the bottom. That way you can tell at a glance when you need to rain in your spending so that you don't finish the match at a loss.
What do you guys think? |

I'll just say what I always say.
Player marketplace.
We won't always have fixed prices for all our gear. It's possible that, at some point, there won't be fixed prices on ANY of our gear (except when you're buying with AUR), and the market will be all about supply and demand. If you're in a remote corner of space where nobody makes the suit you normally use, a guy who shows up with several to spare will be able to name almost any price he wants to. If you're in the middle of one of the big manufacuring centres, there will be a HUGE amount of players competing with one another for sales.
When you buy 3 or 4 suits in a system as a stopgap measure before getting back to "civilised" space and restocking properly, should your hypnothetical "profit" calculator be working from the higher price you paid, the lower price, or an average? Or should it use an average price from the vendors local to your battlefield?
In EVE Online, there's a "material value" associated with basically every item of value, which is used for insurance purposes. In DUST, it's a good idea to implement something similar. This isn't the value of the finished product though, only the components that went into making it - which means it will be significantly less than ANY market price you'll pay for the gear in question.
I think it would be good if the game used that as a measure, and instead of giving a "profit" figure 9which could never be done in an accurate manner anyway), it gives your income and "material expenditure" numbers in the end-game screen.
So you get something from which you can calculate an approximate (but only approximate) amount of money that you've spent. The game shouldn't hand you the results, but we definitely need more information from which we can work these things out.
At the moment, with the fixed-value pricing on everything, it's easy enough to keep track for yourself anyway, but it's not going to be that way permanently. |

+1 for the general concept, though Garrett is correct that it would have to be based on a generic value, not the price you actually paid. |

I remember a thread just like this and we all got in an argument. I say that if you can't do the math yourself than you need to go back to school |
