I am work with networks so i undestand about delay and etc more then common players.
Situations seems very unfair, as example i am russianand live in the Moscow, so i have near 50-70 ms delay to euro hosts and 160-230ms to US hosts.
half of russians have delay 100-150 ms to EURO hosts.
As example yesterday we had played two corp war vs Seraphim Initiative. Both time it was US host. We played on this IP address 50.97.153.54
I have 170 ms to it, most of russian have worst delay to US than me - 250-400 ms. Guys from my corp had teleports of enemy, invictible enemys with 30 hp and etc. I had trouble with hitting moving enemys, my bullets just not hit them sometimes.
As i tested it with my american friends they usually have 30-50 ms to US servers and 100-120 ms to euro servers.
So as we see - US guys have better delay TO EURO than most people from my corp. And playing on US hosts is incredible hard for us. Americans not bad guys, but they have much more better network structures in their country.
I think CCP must make playing equal for ALL, because it is shooter and delay is very significant thing.
1. Make artifical delay for players with good delay - for equal playing (it is best choice) if difference will 40-70ms it is OK. I know it is impossible to make equal playing with worstest delay of some players, but it is possible with common delay of regions. As example US have 30-50 to their servers, euro have 150-200 to US servers. So if US guys will have 100-120 ms and euro guys 150-200 ms it will almost OK, but better common delay in 150 ms.
2. Let us to choose region of corp battle
3. Show to us region of contract before we accept it
4. half times on US hosts, half times on EU hosts (i am have no idea how it possible, but it is just example)
5. Each region on their own hosts (worst choice )
p.s. Btw, in battlefield 3 developers resolved this problem somehow - players almost not depend by delay i tested it. I had played EU (50 ms), Asia (250 ms), east USA (160 ms), west USA (220 ms) and even Australia (with 400 ms delay) - and almost dont felt difference. |

I should add that the majority of Seraphim are located in the EU, so naturally fighting on a US server isn't ideal for us as well. I'm guessing the server choice for corp battles has nothing to do with the nationalities of the participants. |

I played many corp wars and only this two corp wars was very strange. Part of your guys just not gained damage most of the time. Especially Edrot, on public he gain damage like others, but on last corp wars - it was lucky if i removed 10-20% of his shields even shooting in his back. I have enough skill in shooters for understand than this problem on corp wars is not my fault as player .
So anyway CCP must optimize delay system, it is not work properly now |

You are correct that the selection of server region is not always optimal but I am working on fixing that for a later build.
As an Aussie I completely sympathize with "omg lag", so I'll keep you posted on how it goes.
Thanks for the feedback. |
