It'd be balanced by the CPU/PG cost. Light weapons are way more demanding than sidearms in terms of CPU/PG.
Also, I hope this means they're making grenades into equipment. That would be a good change. Make people sacrifice a useful tool or whatever in order to fit grenades. Would cut down on the grenade spam a bit. |

No, it isn't probably that at all. Look at the dropsuit screen again. First of all, it has gold-lined items in its slots. And look at the PG/CPU values. It's a starter dropsuit, not some fancy tier 2 version. The reason it's white is probably because CCP's internal build allows you to customize your armor colour. |

Also, the fitting is called "assault", and has the assault suit icon. Strange.
It is white. Whatever, such a stupid thing to contradict someone over. The point is that it isn't that dark blue/grey colour that assault dropsuits are by default. For a starter fit that is odd, although for this trailer maybe they messed with it for the sake of having the "star" be distinguishable from all the other faceless assault suits.
As for the fitting being called "assault", the fitting is listed as Assault - Anti-Infestation. The dropsuit type should be listed as Assault - Anti-Infestation, as starter suits are called by their designation like that, but in this case it isn't, either because CCP changed it for starter fits in general, or because this is a custom suit they made with a white colouration for the trailer, or because Anti-Infestation is a new starter suit configuration and they hadn't gotten around to changing the armor's name to that quite yet.
In any case, it's all pretty trivial. What's important are the slot differences, as the OP pointed out. Two light weapon slots, no grenade slot, two equipment slots. |

The three weapon slots are not known. You have an assault rifle, a scrambler pistol, and a third L slot. Maybe they're all L slots. Maybe one is an H slot but the person has an assault rifle in it for some reason. Who knows. |

P.S. Here us a screenshot from my phone: http://imgur.com/hlvj4J8.jpg I also just noticed how it says H, M, L, most likely standing for High, Medium, and Low. I wonder if it's just a different name for Heavy, Light, Sidearm, or weapons are going to be classified differently now... Probably the former.
Good call. |

Zekain Kade wrote:Or maybe it was all just for show. Not actually game play.
Unlikely with respect to the dropsuit stuff. Having a substantially different dropsuit fitting screen isn't something they'd do "just for show". The only people who'd notice it is different are people who've played Dust. Everyone else will see it and not have much idea what it is beyond some kind of configuration screen.
The additional of a M slot for weapons, the removal of the grenade slot, and the conversion of the High module slot icon to be the same as EVE, with the three lines instead of two lines, are all fairly significant changes. They have no artistic basis, either.
This wouldn't be the first time we've gotten a preview of aspects of a forthcoming build from promotional stuff CCP has done. For example, we got to see female dropsuits for the first time during that Chinese game show a few months back, whatever it was called. As all of the changes we see in the dropsuit screen are changes that make sense to me, I'm more inclined to believe they're indicative of a broader change to how dropsuits will be configured, rather than arbitrary changes CCP made because they figure people seeing two seconds of a starter assault suit with two Low module slots rather than one would be really awesome. |

Yeah, you're totally right. CCP is trying to entice people who've never played Dust before by promising them two equipment slots and two low slots on their militia-equivalent assault dropsuits. Those rattlesnakes! That's just what every person who has never played this game before wants to see! |

I get the feeling you saw the title of this thread, didn't read anything written in it, and just hit the Reply button and started mashing keys. You're aware we're talking about dropsuit slot changes? Something that doesn't mean anything to people who aren't already playing Dust? So unless your genius contribution is that CCP changed the dropsuit configuration because they're trying to market their game to people who are already playing the game then I'm not sure what to tell you. |

Centurion mkII wrote:Here is the answer its a Anti - Infestation suit.

Drone infestation.
PVE Suits are stronger because there balanced against NPCs.
This doesn't make any sense at all and is almost certainly not the answer. They're not going to make a separate version of every item in the game for the purpose of fighting NPCs, when they could simply design the NPCs to be balanced around the items we fight players with.
You're also incorrect if you believe the starter suit we see there is "stronger". It has more/different slots, but its CPU/PG is the same. You'd be able to outfit a wider variety of stuff, but if you were to do so your modules/equipment couldn't be as high of quality. |

Hehaw Jimbo wrote:If you're familiar with EVE, you should know that CCP's game trailers lie. Their EVE trailers are always spiffed up to look cool, when a ton of the stuff shown isn't actually in the game, doesn't work how the video shows, or has significantly better graphical effects than the actual in-game. It's something a lot of people have criticized over the years. They're meant to attract new players and look awesome, but in general, aren't very accurate to how things really are.
A CCP employee explicitly stated in a recent video done just before the open beta that people will be able to use heavy weapons with scout suits. He also said squad size is being upped to 6 and team sizes to 24 vs. 24 soon.
In short, no, the evidence suggests that CCP is loosening restrictions/expanding options more. It's possible that there may be changes to heavy suits/heavy weapons accompanying the separation of those two items, but in any case it seems fairly clear that assault suits will be able to use forge guns, scout suits HMGs, and everything in between. |

@ 6:50. Guy talks about being able to make a scout suit which uses heavy weapons. This plus the stuff from the trailer suggests this wasn't simply artistic license.
The dropsuit screen is visible for literally ~2.5 seconds. They aren't going to spend a bunch of time adding, removing, and editing the icons of it because they're concerned people won't understand them. You think people are going to understand three lines in an icon significantly better than two lines? Having a H, M, and L slots is that much more understandable than L and S? These are things you think they spent time doing, because they didn't want to confuse people during the 2.5 seconds that stuff is visible? Really? |

We have a CCP guy saying something and we have images from a trailer. If you remain unconvinced, that's cool, but you're wrong in that we have no evidence for thinking they're making these changes at some point in the near future. |

Also the assault suit is holding the forge gun on his left, while heavy suits hold the forge gun on the right. So the animations are different and therefore this isn't some tacked on thing and assault suits and probably every other suit are getting heavy weapons in a future build.
http://i.imgur.com/J8npRRN.jpg vs http://i.imgur.com/w43Nc3V.jpg
And that probably means the H, M, L weapon slot format we saw in the trailer's dropsuit selection, with the removal of the grenade slot, is how weapons will work in the future for all dropsuits. H is for heavy weapons like assault rifles, HMGs, forge guns, and shotguns. M is for medium weapons like SMGs, pistols, and maybe other stuff. And L is for something else. Possibly either grenades or nova knives? Maybe other stuff? If the addition of the equipment and low slot was actually on a militia suit, as the trailer suggests, perhaps grenades are equipment now. Should be interesting. Extra slots overall, while retaining PG/CPU levels, would be interesting.
And finally, check out the AR: http://i.imgur.com/dbJkuj5.jpg and http://i.imgur.com/SBJRgQD.png and http://i.imgur.com/fxYMnfW.jpg
It has a blue/white/grey camouflage pattern to it.
So, in this trailer we've most likely seen: New dropsuit fitting configuration at least for weapons, that heavy weapons will become usable by any dropsuit, and possibly a couple of the looks you'll be able to craft for your armor and weapon, as we see with the central character in the trailer sporting her white assault suit and blue/white/grey assault rifle.
