So, just watched the new open beta trailer and gotta say it looks wicked.
We get short glimpses of what looks like drone PVE and different looking environments and I'm sure I saw some new looking bigger vehicles towards the end there... and a dropship repairing multiple vehicles simultaneously is that? |

Also, when Eve corps are supporting your battles 100k suits and 2 mill isk vehicles will be a little more expendible. However, as it currently stands, I am not sure planets would be 'bought' for more than 50 mill or so due to the small margins that come from PI... |

True. Some of that stuff is coming and some of it is just their video program in action. They have their own that can be used to manipulate all their game material however they wish. They could make a fortune alone just marketing it. |

Well the dropship repairing multiple vehicles you have to invest in, it's already in the beta just letting you know. |

The only thing misleading is the assault using a forge gun. Other than that, its all features already in the game, or coming soon (drones). |

Models are accurate to ingame, lighting is a bit off, so are the envrionment effects being multiple varieties. Animation isn't to par yet. People still looking down while shooting and the sorts. Mercs with faces is also another planned feature, we do know UT3 can handel it (mass effect is a good example) but right now other things are in focus.
Drones are a planed feature.
You don't play corp battles that often do you?
FW corps are coordinating wen possible right now eve side. Dust 514 providers are broadcasting locations and times of fights. |

Yeah, sure. The same way Source Film Maker let's you record gameplay. Staged and heavily processed. Would be cool to see in game though. Did I hear tire noises? |

Well, yes, no disputing that one lol. I am still bloody interested in that suit above however.

As pointed out above, could be Caldari Heavy. Being so "light" on armor for a Heavy though, and the overall "look" compared to the other dropsuits ingame, I was leaning towards Minmatar Heavy myself. |

Yeah exactly. Those tire noises are from the new sound build coming out this week. All of the models you see are in game, but animated by hand. In fact I think it's called the Jessica engine. It's the CCP version of source. What you see is what you get in game. Obviously with some after effects and other fancy touches, but it's not CGI art like most game trailers. Look at the wow opening , dear god, the game is nothing like that, at all. In any way.
But the meet the spy/medic videos for example, what you see is what you get. |

IF it is a heavy it is in fact most likely the Caldari heavy. Note the blue coloring on the suit. general rule of thumb if it looks rusty minnie if its blue and angular caldari if it is golden and phallic in shape its amarrian if its green and very roundlike then its gallente

I think we can have only three possible explanations regarding this... confusion.
1. CCP made a mistake while making this trailer. However, it seems very absurd to me to think that any developer would accidentally contradict with the lore of that developer's game. So I'm ruling this possibility out.
2. This is, indeed, the Caldari version of the Heavy dropsuit. But why then there seems to be no difference whatsoever between the Caldari Heavy and Assault dropsuits? Shouldn't a Heavy be... bulkier and heavier than Assault? Unless CCP plans to have all racial dropsuits be the same, ignoring their type, I don't think this is it either. Which leaves us to the last possibility...
3. In a future build, players will be able to fit Forge Guns on Assault dropsuits. I know, that doesn't make much sense, but hey, swarms are not so small either, and you can equip them on your Assault guy. So maybe those who are not playing as Heavies will have a variety in choosing their main AV weapon.
Personally, option #3 caters to me the most, since it looks to be the most realistic... Although all explanations don't make much sense at all. What is your take on this? |
