Need a severe damage reduction. 1k+ damage. Excessive, especially considering they can hide behind walls and just lob them and then they hone in onto enemy vehicles. Tanks cant touch you.
Then youve got main weapons you can use that also do 1200+ damage. Shouldnt the grenades be for giving you that extra little push to damage as opposed to completely neutralizing 5k+ armor ? Just a thought.
Thinking maybe 500 armor damage for standard. You keep handing out free AV **** youll lose players. Battlefield managed to keep tanks balanced with infantry. Im sure you can as well, keep trying. |

Damage levels in general are fubar'd in Dust. Makes no sense...
I can understand that there are balancing issues towards making a game more fun to play than realistic and boring, but I agree, the damage levels are a bit too unrealistic for my liking personally. That said, I do like the current balance. |

Or you could fit your tank more efficiently. I've thrown AV grenades at some tanks that barely grazed their shields. |

Tanks need infantry and/or LAV support. Active scanners help detect AV infantry. As the game evolves a lot of strategy will be economic. If you are going to leverage a 1 mill isk asset, you better be sure that the counters can be mitigated. I don't like the AV grenade damage either, maybe it could be tuned down, or maybe veh fittings need to implement some resistance plating or shield resistances to absorb the shock of AV grenades.
But a lesson of modern warfare is that there is always an assymetric threat to the way you are fighting. Many 'threats' have as much to do with denying effectiveness as they do destroying a threat. You shouldn't think that a tank can be effective anywhere. It is more a strategic area denial weapon and not so much of a brute force offensive weapon.
A big aspect of Eve is that you shouldn't 'undock' or spawn in what you are not prepared to lose. Similarly what you have deployed should be able to at least do as much damage for what it cost to field (or upwards of 2x or more). |

Explosives do less damage to shields. I bet you through it at a shield tank didn't you? Most likely had modules running too.
I've lost an armour tank with dual reps running to AV nade spam on a nanohive |

Um ok, ive stidied military tactics of russia, america, israel, china, and britain since the age of 15. Im aware of what tanks are supposed to have. What the **** does that have to do with three av nades taking away 5k plus armor from behind cover? Dont preach tactic to me. I know what tactic is, i dont know why av nades are so powerful at standard level. |

Who the kitten said anything about tactics? Not me, that's sure. You may have studied tactics in all parts of the world but that does not translate one bit into knowing how to fit a tank in Dust 514. It also shouldn't tell you one bit about how AV grenades behave in Dust 514. This is a game, last time i checked.
But, Tectonious Falcon raises another issue and he may have a point but it concerns a different problem than what you're complaining about. Armor tanks indeed appear to be weaker against AV grenades but they can have their uses. It's just that when cornered you're in trouble, not just because of that weakness but also their slow pace, imo. So i'd say that each class of tank actually requires a different playstyle. |

Shield tanks and armor tanks do act very differently. Shield tanks are for those that cant cope with having to actually retain battle effectiveness when on their own, and armor tanks are for those who prefer to be in the brunt of conflict. But CCP made anti armor weapons too powerful. As well as too maneuverable. Not a single anti shield weapons hones in, anti armor does.
Sad but true undeniable wtf stories. Its fine though, eventually it had to balance itself, no? |

Remote mines should deal more damage than av grenades. They are hard as **** to use you have to get in close. Av grenades didn't always have the homing part. I think the prototype av grenades are fine, but the standard ones should be dealing 500 damage, and the grenade skill should increase damage by 10% per level |

I put AV nades on all my Heavy suits i hate my 120k isk investment, being a smear on the bumper of a LAV. Even my forge suits use them unless im running an assault forge in which case i can spool it up in time to keep myself from becoming a "why did the fatty cross the road." punch line.
Hell to be honest i use them almost every dropsuit i like the utility and they are well balanced given the range of a grenade toss and the danger that implies. |

Just wait until we start fighting the drones. My guess is that AV or flux grenades may be one of the desired weapons there. |

Av grenades needs to change what kind of damage it does. It should be a "hybrid" damage so it equally takes on both shields and armor not just armor. Need to slow how fast you can spam them also. Throwing 3 av grenades in 3 -4 seconds while doing more damage than swarms and forges... A bit ridiculous |

that would be fine if they still allowed us to throw one on the ground first so the one in the air will finish the LAV off before it hits me. |
