The current Ambush maps, new ones as well as old ones, are nothing less but awful.
The worst spawning I've ever seen in a game is one part of it (although a very big part), but there are several other factors as to why the're so bad.
Why aren't there several CRUs and Supply Depots on ALL the maps? On some maps there's currently a single CRU, which could be seen as a good start, but having one CRU is actually so much worse than not having any at all. If there weren't any, everyone would be spawning anywhere on the map, but when one team controls the only CRU on the map it simply leads to one big campfest around that CRU, usually ending with the team not controlling the CRU winning. There should be several CRUs on EVERY Ambush map.
The same with Supply Depots. That we still have maps without any at all is disappointing to say the least. As a heavy, why should I be forced to die when I run out of ammo?
Another thing I really hate is the instant spawning (or two seconds or whatever it is). You shouldn't be able to be back in the battle so fast after being killed. It needs to go back to eight or ten seconds (and if you waited with bleeding out, it should still be three seconds of course).
Recently I stopped playing Skirmish because I was so tired of every match ending in a redline fest. Then you came out with these new Ambush maps the other day, which are one big redline fest throughout the entire match. Now, having both teams spawn in their own safezone is great, but like in Skirmish, you SHOULDN'T be able to snipe from within the redline. Also, if there were more than one CRU on these maps (see above), it's less likely to end up in a redline fest. Right now one team takes the CRU and redlines the other team because they can only spawn back in their base. |

Also, they Red Lined the outside of the central facility in Ashland. Just a horrible solution. Now you cannot even run outside the gate and ... drop an uplink. |

Also, it's actually not so much about being instakilled when spawning at the CRU, because in that case people usually figure out to spawn somewhere else. It's about one team being near the CRU and the other team holding them up against it. If there were more than one CRU this wouldn't happen so much.

Actually... if there is an uplink or CRU on the map, even though it will be the primary spawn location ( "X" button), you can still press square (i think) to go to the default spawn location. While this option is a crap shoot, its still better than spawning on a camped CRU. |
