Can I request an observation mode for all battle types. This means that any battle that it currently taking place can be joined by an observer.
Whilst in observer mode you will be able to see the real time overview map at its current resolution (not all that helpful for giving away intel) as well as being able to see the score board.
During observer mode there would be not other forms of interaction. The observer cannot deploy and cannot communicate with troops on the ground whilst in this mode.
The reason for this request is more so for Eve players. As I have an Dust account I would like to see the fruits of my investments as they take place on the battlefield but more importantly this will give me an opportunity to stream live video footage of dust battles from an observers point of view to a website (once this is allowed by the NDA of course) so that my other Eve partners who do not have access to Dust can see the developments of their investments as they happen on the ground. In the future, it would be nice to actually allow this on the eve client directly so Eve players can view the matches themselves without the need of an external browser.
I think this would be a huge step in the right direction in progressing the link between Eve and dust as it will make the link far more visual for Eve players and will allow them to relate to Dust mercs on a much more personal level. |

Live streams from Dust mercs head cams onto Eve clients? This pleases me, this pleases me alot.

fair enough, i get the whole spy on you from above thing might be 'cheating'. But honestly, think of what the game mechanics are here. We have a highly advanced ship in space above you on your side and you are suggesting that this ship has either no communications with the guys on the ground or they dont have windows...
Given the link between dust and Eve ccp want to achieve i think the thing you are worried about is inevitable. |

Would ghosting really be an issue with the fog-of-war suggestion?
And as already mentioned, spaceships do have windows.... You may need to accept it as a new game mechanic. This is not COD, Mag or BF and you do have people in orbit above you. I would like to put emphasis on that... the Eve player is there. In the same system, at the same planet, only a few km above your head, risking their xxx, xxx, xxx, xxx, xxx ISK ship to orbital strike for you.
To suggest that the Eve player cannot see what is happening on the ground when they have windows, the best sensors money can buy and radio communications (radar?!?!) is a bit silly don't you think? |

Whats to stop 1 person on the team just opening the map to give intel to the rest of the team anyway? Ghosting already exists in Dust and is done by mercs on the ground. Allowing it for eve player would not make ghosting any more of a problem than it already is... |

Ulysses Knapse wrote:I think one way would be to make a telescope module (for starships) that lets capsuleers 'see' the district in high-detail. They wouldn't be told which team is which, however, as it is only a visual telescope. They could be in touch with an MCC commander, reporting movements and such. With good communication and a sharp eye, this could make for a valuable intelligence tool. It would be similar to the overview that infantry have, but with closer zoom, and without TacNet. Cloaking would interfere with the sensitive telescopic sensors, preventing them from working while hidden. This wouldn't be "ghosting" in the traditional sense, as it would require the watchful capsuleer to be in space where they could be shot down. A traditional observer mode could be made less exploitable by making it one-sided and requiring the commander to 'invite' someone into the intelligence frequency, thereby allowing a commander to deny such intelligence to those untrusted.
I love it.
One request I would add to this would be to atleast allow for Eve players to see which colour team owns which objectives in a skirmish match etc. But I can definately see the value in not showing which team a unit is on as it promotes communication and adds a new dynamic to the game guessing who is who based on movements.
