Remember when MPT was announced? http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=3358
Has been more than 7+ Months of work in progress since the oldest public build, CCP!
And in a couple of days will be Open beta!
Is going to be the judgement day for an unfinished product.
Is not ready to be an Open Beta, but you guys have your reasons.
CCP! This current build will be bashed and minimized by the Media and gaming sites, it will hurt the reputation of D514. |

Too late for that. Has already happened. Is up to us players to just play the game if we like it well enough.
Hopefully the media (unlike so very many beta testers?) will get that this is not a game on a disc. No DLC to buy in a few months. That there really is no release. No finished product. No end game. |

Ccp has their cards pretty close to thier chest.
I expect the next build, maybe 2 weeks after open, will have a lot of new content. |

I wouldn't count on that (the having of a lot of new content).
I have a feeling that official game review sites don't release official reviews until a game is announced "released". Given that it's going to be open beta, they won't (or shouldn't) release official reviews for it, though they'll certainly have opinionated previews. |

lol you guys. open beta is CCP saying "yes we know it's finished, but if we don't release now, we'll never get it out".
Sure iron sights aren't where we want grenades are insta win
but that's all there is and were recently added in the new build. Personally I would prefer it if CCP branches off a test build for the community volunteers to test, then put to live. No offence to CCP but there needs to be some perspective to what they put out based on feedback, and what we expect from those changes... some of the changes have really recieved a negative response from the comunity and considering they last as long as a build, it can be very frustrating as an individual (and I'm a developer!) so I dare say how the less tolerant will respond. |

We are still in beta, if gaming sites judge us too harshly then thats on them.
At this point we are not even dependent on money for to win, it speeds up the rate you can learn skills but its not needed.
The only thing I can really see sites mention, is the skill gap between newer players and vets.
I joined midway through a build, and I can tell you that is a bit overwhelming at first but it made me wanna stick it out. |

Yeah but unfortunately the new players who download this "beta" for free (with no personal investments) like a lot of us here on the forums have.. The majority of these players wont look back at Dust once they realize the gap and continue to get destroyed by half a clip of a gek38..
Hopefully SP matchmaking can square its self off when the influx of newbies hits the chutes.. |

Open Beta = Beta
Also
Open Beta =/= NDA Lift.
And ultimately need to look at the over all bigger picture. Close beta at the start was unstable as hell and majority of the blame was on the client software. We're now in a era where its hardware or isp fault's for making the data protocols unacceptable by the battle servers causing the current drops something CCP can still fix on their end but its not the client's or players fault at all.
We're getting some new guns for the open beta once everything has been adjusted for the new influx of players. We will never be finished with balancing and we are constantly going to get new expansions and content patches for free.
Recently been on Sisi and 30 day passives and actives are some of the new things spotted. |

And they lost clout rating because they where reviewing an incomplete game.
This results in loss of trust for breaking NDA.
This results in loss of advertisers.
Which just boils away money on their end. |

They didn't review it. They previewed it, just like most sites do with any major release.
That hardly matters though does it? This time next week, most major game sites with any integrity are going to draw the same conclusion. |

A lot of sites and reviewers who spent about 30 minutes in this game more interested in the transgaming. The sites you are saying that are going to tear dust 514 apart are the same sites that give eve a 6/10 wishes Halo was more of a call of duty, and honestly things half life 2 was a good game and praises call of duty for just re-skinning the same game every year. |

That's kinda what Dust/CCP need to do to be honest.
This plays like a disposable free-ware shooter from the late 90's.
With a worse frame-rate. |

I know some 2010 mmos that play like they're form the 1980s :P I know one game with similar graphics and its a top notch seller. |

Runs at a good clip though, even on a very modest machine. Has excellent game-play mechanics too.
Both of these things are missing from Dust.
We all know the current state of MMO's too, don't we? |

Current state of mmos indicates a dying subscriber market while F2P is too soon and being forced far to early into the taking over with many companies unsure how to remain feasible while operating which is why games that where F2P a year or two ago are drowning and getting stomped out by others.
This further echo's some of Richard Garriot's predicition on the death of PC gaming in general. Smart phones, and every company having their own webstore are going to kill the business. |
