What about the possibility of a "Riot Shield" for use in the Heavy slots? This way the Heavy can be used as a breacher in urban combat. The shield would have about 1000Hp, and be just a little bit larger than the Heavy that way stacking one/two mercs behind him, they can push through bottleneck ares and what have you. Maybe make it stronger than 1000Hp, and have a limited duration? The use of shield regulators to rep it, similar to a drop suits shield system. Maybe they have to crouch to use it, or move slower like when charging a forge weapon? Maybe it operates like charging a forge weapon, when fully charged it can soak up a lot more damage? Just throwing ideas around. What do ya'll think? |

I am conflicted on this. On one hand watching a heavy play spartan and walk in a phalanx would be a beautiful beautiful thing on the other hand giving the fat men even more health seems wrong.
This could be abused to the level of silly so unfortunately sir i cannot plus one your idea. |

I agree with the previous poster. I don't know how I feel about this. Having a tank should do the job you speak of just fine. But when tanks... er I mean, heavies... Already can sport 1000 armor points, giving them a shield that can absorb 1000 shield points (Plus their own personal shield) is just dumb. The only way I could see it be feasible is if they had no offensive capabilities. They would get WPs for something like Distraction that you can find in Halo 4. Opponents focusing on you get shot by your teammates and they die, thus giving you an assist bonus. |

I have previously advocated having a high-tier heavy weapon with a temporary (EM) shield, similar to the HVAP Wraith used in the Resistance game series: -> Wikia Link -> Picture
Shield would have to be smaller (covering a smaller arc), and it is "active use" requiring the operator to turn it on and of. It has a life-time defined in the energy it consumes to maintain and can be spent by the operator or beaten down by adversaries. While deployed, the movement of the operator is severely limited.
Would require both HMG and Shield skills to operate, as well as being silly-expensive (more so than regular HMGs).
Disclaimer: I don't spec into Heavies, and would be scared to see one of these on the battlefield ... but I'd welcome it, since all weapons have a weakness, and this is no exception.
Edit:

They are good distraction, in that players can empty their arsenal into them (frontally) doing little damage, while other MOBs will kill the player. They can be circled, and shot in the back easily. |

Change the sidearm slot to say a defense slot where you couldn't have a weapon and this out at the same time but still be able to carry a primary weapon and it would work. I LIKE IT! |

Terrible idea the heavy is already a walking meat shield last thing anyone in this game needs is to shoot through another 1k hp to kill one. |

I support this idea but only if its weapon specific. Say a heavy class flame thrower with shield to forcibly enter entrenched positions.
I am however not in support of giving heavy's an equipment slot and they are already strong enough with the HMG and Forge gun. |

What if it was a projection of the Heavy's own shield that is stronger than usual but leaves the Heavy immediately vulnerable to armour damage? They would also have to move quite slowly whilst it is activated and the shield wouldn't be able to recharge. I love the idea it would just need to be carefully implemented. |

i can see this, and no matter what anyone else says, it can be done.
How you ask? simple, you take away a large portion of the heavies shield health from the start when using this item( lets call it the Tesla projection barrier). the moment you equip it and head off into battle, you become even more vulnerable to enemy fire, and when activated the carrier is extremely limited in terms of mobility and his/her offensive ability stripped to rocks and stone.plus, the user must keep it on for the length of its time; once you activate it, your forced to keep it activated until your shields are gone or should you lose your clone
it dosent have to be limited to a heavy, other suits can use it but theshields will tend to will be weaker, lasting 5-10 seconds. a heavies barrier can double or triple that time length. why? the capacitor used to collect the absorbed energy. |

All great, and I personally do not skill into Heavies, it was just a thought. Maybe I should have been a little more specific, but with the 'riot' shield, they would NOT be allowed to carry a Large or Heavy Weapon, but just a sidearm, and not have both equipped at the same time. Vastly expensive and costly to level into. Not to mention it would suck up a LOT of CPU/PG. The only purpose of this would be stacking teammates behind them, and the Heavy with the shield would be in it just for the support of the team. I mean, if the Squad leader put a Defend order on the guy while they were pushing through, he would ultimately get some WP for the action of being a walking wall. The intent it not to be a mobile tank, but a support tool for pushing a heavily fortified objective or support the team when trying to push back from being red lined? |

Make it a heavy melee weapon. Then, in battle, the heavy hits "melee" and instead of smacking someone he puts a heavy-sized shield in front of himself and breaks out his sidearm. It only protects his front, and his offensive capabilities are severely limited, so it shouldn't be too OP. Might be hard to implement, though. |

though of a scenario where heavies rush over a fallen comrade, activate their shields while Logibro's do their thing |

While I haven't tried out the Heavy dropsuit, I support this idea. If this is added, I would like it to use shield energy so the Heavy that's using it would be vulnerable from behind and severely limit it's movement. |
