So...... my bosses are away for the better part of the week and I decided the best thing to do check out the Eve forums.
First thing noticeable;- the Eve forums areway cooler than this crappy piece of ****.
Secondly;- there is actually not much trolling in there. I have yet to go through the rest of the posts but yets actually pretty cool.
Thirdly;- Answer and feedbacks are to the point. I am only checking the Dust 514 Informational portal though.
Fourthly;- People actually take the time to write meaningful comments on the posts. Makes good reads.
Soooooooo CCP:
1. When are ya planning on merging the 2 forums?
2. When are ya cleaning up this dump to make it as cool as the Eve forums
3. When can we put cool avatars to our mercs? |

1. no. always separate forums but maybe same set up
2. eve is 10 years old and most large nullsec alliances have their own forums to troll on. plus they troll local or grief in game vs troll on forums.
3. hopefully but haven't heard much about it. |

There's a damn sight more trolling on the EVE forums than here, you're clearly not looking at the right stuff, or know enough about EVE to see the trolling. |

You could just answer the question rather than desperately trying to get numbers for your show.
Also, EVE trolling is a lot more professional than Dust trolling, it takes surprisingly more effort and subtlety. |

When I found this, I realised that if all eve players follow this code, then I can't trust anyone. Their forum is merely a facade to lure you in to the trap of deception, lies, backstabbing and betrayal of the game. At least here, we're more down to earth. (Pun most definitely intended) |

When asked about what was going to happen to the beta forums in IRC I think the official response was
"we are ejecting them into the sun"
I also think these forums would be 500% better if ccp actually posted in them so that we had something of substance to talk about.
That's really also the case with the game itself. There aren't enough significant events in game to make for interesting posts, thus the trolling. |

trusting someone in eve is a gamble and if you have the collateral to put up you take a risk trusting someone knowing full well they could screw you over but you have to gamble sometimes by trusting someone, if you can afford to be screwed over the reward for trusting someone could be far greater than remaining safe and isolated
basically it comes back to dont fly what you can't afford to loose, you also dont risk trusting someone unless you can afford to be screwed over, you dont ever risk it all.
and most dont want to waste their time screwing over someone that can afford it, they want to cause as much tears as possible by screwing over the guy for everything he owned |

These forums need a revamp to help the community blossom. I really want an forum like the intergalactic summit. The current war room is lacking.
There will also need to be some cross talking forums between eve and dust. For instance, we need one to discuss alliance politics. We need one for market related stuff (eventually). One for faction warfare and OB would also be helpful.
Of course most of this need is probably a year away in development. :-( |

Agreed, every studio should know by now that active devs make forums so much better. Hard to get worked up when it doesn't feel like you're talking to a brick wall. |
