In call of duty a lagg switch only works affectively if you are the host (the other players are linked to you) By using a lag switch you interrupt there connection to your I.P. address
In dust the servers we connect to are fixed and never change to eliminate the need for a host I.E. If you we're to try and use a lag switch in Dust you would effectively disconnect yourself from the game and or lag your self.
Only ccp could technically use a lag switch against us for they host the game not just a random person with the best connection like in most multilayer games
Lag switches are entirely possible on dedicated servers, actually it's much worse due the fact that unlike a p2p game, any player can potentially do it (if it works).
In KZ2 even the most basic lag-switch worked. You could flip the switch, shoot a few people while they stood still, then before you timed-out from the server and DC, release the switch (usually was a period of 5 seconds or so). After that, the buffer on your PS3's NIC (or HDD/RAM) released all the packets (shots you fired) and all the players you shot would instantly drop dead as soon as you re-connected.
However with Dust I seriously doubt a lag switch would give anybody an advantage, I've never tried but when my local network is having latency issues, I am bouncing around the game, constantly rubber-banding back to my original position, and unable to shoot or even move most of the time.
Having terribly latency/ping is practically equivalent to a basic lag-switch, so if that makes the game unplayable, a lag-switch should as well. As for a more complex lag-switch (not many are familiar with it) I'm not sure, been thinking about trying it for testing purposes for a while now, just haven't gotten around to it yet.
I remember by using the smarter lag-switch method in KZ2, I could use three different variations. One resulted in the enemy player seeing me move while I had the switch thrown, but they were frozen to me (this was the most stealth type of method to use, plus if they were frozen, they were easy targets). Second method was that I froze to the enemy players, but they kept moving for me. Third was I froze to enemy players, and they froze for me.
My guess is anything short of an expert lag-switch (using 555-timers mixed with other methods) would do a thing in the game but leave the player using that lag-switch highly vulnerable. I have yet to see any signs of players lag switching, all the lag issues I see are from CCP's servers or my network connection.
