So I'll start by saying I like being a squad leader. Nothing makes a match better then issuing a command and watching my squad follow it out as a group and accomplish a goal I set. In a game like this where communication is so important but many of us don't have mics these commands have been very helpful when people decide to follow them and issue them.
But the problem is that people aren't doing that. I used to get annoyed when my squad leader wouldn't use them, but I took the time to realize that the current system for issuing orders is terrible. The menu is literally hidden behind another menu and isn't explained to new players at all. Coupled with the lack of even knowing if you're a squad leader or not really hurts this part of the game that I think is very helpful and brings random players together.
Right now the system is "Hold R2, click R3, scroll to a command, line up where you want your order to go, hope nothing runs in front of you as you do this and finally hit X". Changing this will greatly help gameplay in pub servers. How to optimize this? The best way would be voice notice whenever you become the squad leader, coupled with having the command menu pop up with the Circle button when it's not prompted for use like hacking something. Even switching the weapons/equipment menu and command menu when you hold R2 would be beneficial, though some people might find it annoying.
Just please do something so more people can know about this. I've helped win matches with this, score tons of WP and overall just enjoyed the game better when I or someone else uses it effectively. |

Circle would really be a good place to put it. Good feedback. |

I agree. To expand on this, you can hold down the circle button when you're not hacking a console and use the directional buttons to select a command and mark an object nearby. When you need to mark something that's some distance away, you can still use the old method. |
