Those who sit in the MCC are a joke. There is no excuse. They are just afraid to hurt their stats, which means their stats can easily be ignored.
I love running out into a battle we are losing and seeing what I can do to change that, even in a small way. I dont care if the effort is for nothing in the end, you still get to learn from your mistakes and improve.
I have run out into a losing battle many times with only a couple corp mates beside me. It was great fun to see that we could take objectives and take out their snipers giving people such a hard time. |

Then the match wasn't already lost. But what about when the is clearly no possible hope of winning?
Do you keep running your head into that brick wall over and over? Throw away BPO after BPO just to have something to do for the next two minutes?
You could, but being repeatedly slaughtered for no good reason is not all that appealing to me.
Standing on the other side of the redline waiting for a red dot to emerge for the slaughter is also boring. There is no challenge. Will you get him with your sniper rife before your buddy gets him with his FG? Meanwhile everyone else stands around waiting for match end so they can have some fun?
Just end the misery on both sides and have a surrender.
Redline snoozfests will kill this game faster than anything else. |

Would you say taking your tank and hiding in your own redline under a canopy (to avoid strikes), once you've realized your team sucks and are up against capable opponents to avoid losing your tank or stats is acceptable? |

I would say thats fairly homosexual yes. But is he protected cuz he just skilled up and bought an expensive tank and its his only one? Or is he like you said protecting his stats. Depends, earlier in a wipe like this i could understand if someone doesn't want to lose their expensive tank with a useless team. |

Maybe they were trying to farm orbital strikes. I had the same problem in a few battles last night. Eight guys in the hills and a few near the back spawn point. I did my best to pick up a few guys in an LAV and rush to the far objectives but we didn't make much progress in motivating the blueberries. When things turn kitten just spawn a BPO suit and do something. Anything.
just use that LAV to run over the people who are SP farming in the back, hell even if all 8 of them were sniping i would have tried to run them over with the LAV, kill them a couple times and BOOM they'll either move on, or waste their time trying to deal with you, which IMO is what they diserve if there gonna waste your time by not trying |

I've seen this by your very own members since the wipe. I don't really find it any different than the guys that switch to BPO's to run out and get slaughtered, they are just being more conscientious regarding stats\isk. |

So someone from SyN didn't want to lose a tank cause they had a useless team and sat in spawn. This has never been done before.. I don't really see what your point is, are you saying its a problem that we don't want to lose ISK/Gear/Vehicles? Ahhhh but of course why would it be about that at alll!! It must be about the STATS!!!!.

That's not the point. I could care less what you guys do, just addressing the finger pointing about people not trying... using BPO's all the time, etc... when their own people do similar. You have your own motive, others have their own.. but trying to tell each other how they should play the game...
End the end it always ends up meaningless banter, my apologies. |

If it was last last few minutes of the battle no issue imo. but this wasnt the last 2 minutes this was clearly giving up on the battle with our sides shields gone, and there side maybe 50% shields gone. Also i have won battles with being all capped and red lined by taking out all their clones. There are plenty of productive things that can be done... if we have 25% armor left and they red still has shields, and a high clone count yeah give up.
As far as protecting a tank....i person one tank.... trying to save it.... no problem... big difference then 4 people just sitting in the mcc. 3 persons 1 tank.... same as sittiing in the mcc.. again imo. |

If your MCC still has half or more armor while being redlined, it is not over! Have come back many times turnig the redline around on an opposing team. Usually come in late to a game with a squad and are able to accomplish this, grant it that the opposing team probably was never really that good to begin with.
So up to the point where your MCC still has half armor, one should be fighting like hell to get those NCs back. I also find it a personal challenge to ninja my way across when my team is getting redlined, and pat my self on the back saying "if I can do this why can't others?"
I agree on keeping expensive gear in tact through the batlle, but scratch my head when people call in tanks, while being redlined, and do nothing but sit in the back with them?
I am the type of person that hates losing, no matter what the game is. So to simply give up isn't in my nature and I push out of redline until the armor is below half after that the game is a lost cause and thats when I say "F it!, can't beat'em join 'em." Pull out my militia sniper and start clicking heads. |

Funny thing is....I've actually been in matches where our team (in regards to one match in particular) almost immediately steam-rolled the opposing team. They never hacked an objective, never took a CRU, hardly poked their heads out of the red-line because we had a stacked team with a few different corps. It was so boring a match that we left. The sparse amount of ISK and SP would have been nice, but there's no sport in that type of match. |

You should fight hard up to the point of a sure loss, but no further. OTOH, if some didn't give up and exit the match before it was a sure loss you wouldn't have entered to turn it around (unless the teams weren't filled/even to start).
That makes it a bit fuzzy. If your current team is getting rolled despite your best efforts when do you throw in the towel? When is it just no longer worth pushing a public match? Certainly when it's mathematically impossible to win, but there's a fuzzy area where it's well nigh impossible with the current team. |

i think its whacked 4 people to camp out in the MCC. says alot about u, really. the OP is dead on. another reason CCP has to make people care about winning. zero ISK for losses except in low level ambush (30-60,00 isk) matches. for mid tier and top tier matches with higher returns? no win/no money.
let me see u roast marshmellows in the MCC now. |

Excuse me for showing up late to this. I had read it as it developed but apparently missed the last page and a half.
You are talking about two separate things are you not? I understood it that way. Maybe I am misreading it.
The trailing end of the thread has a valid point about fighting a lost battle.
It can be tough to jump back into a completely lost battle. When Dust is at the Release version and we are in a Corp vs Corp battle it would be interesting to see if the Battle Commander (love the sound of that) would or even could pull back? MCC's have to be very expensive considering the biggest HAV is 1.3M ISK and fully equipped is closer to 2M+ ISK. Pulling the MCC out would save a lot of ISK.
But the OP was about noobs and slackers that aren't doing anything except gathering SP by sitting in the MCC goofing and gaming, sometimes successfully, the system.
With the full experience of the OP under my belt a few too many times it is really irritating to be in the lost without hope battle in the first place because nearly half the crew is actually doing nothing or nearly so. Hiding, sitting in the MCC with Hives and various other activities beyond the Oppositions Red Line. At least some of mine last useless ones were playing with grenades. One even killed himself.
I don't have a real resolution but they are significantly different conditions. Personally I hate getting forced into a lost cause because of slackers. But just going on into a lost cause is difficult either way. Without slackers quite commonly I will carry on. Try to take out more than me. Push to completion. Besides exiting the battle there is no other solution currently, that I know about anyway. Not that I know everything.
I made the commitment to the battle and I will try to carry it out. I will delay until the drop link isn't covered in Red Berries. I will try to take at least some out with me. If I am worried about ISK I equip a Zero Cost Suit (or nearly so). As long as I am not aiming myself at a gung ho KDR focused Corp that should be okay. KDR focus is fine but it does make continuing more personal. "XXYYZZ won't accept my application if my KDR drops .25", which sucks even thinking about it. Hopefully I won't be in that position. Trying to keep about 1.0 is tough with both side full of noobs. Worse when it is only your side that is full of them.
Both of positions are valid. And it is tough to resolve. Some have; others, not quite so much. |

I was in a game of skrimish today, not calling any names out but 2 squads had Qsync in together and had the enemy team redlined. I just sat back and watch 2 tanks with 3 armor reps on each tank spawn trapping. i am not one for quitting, and refuse to,but this early in the build, lonewolf players know better than to even attempt to draw attention to those two squads. |
