The game is meant to be played at least semi realistically. That means using teamwork in order to fulfill the objective whatever it happens to be. If people could just randomly take out dozens or more enemy soldiers by themselves then we wouldn't need armies or anything. A country could just hire a few hundred people and be fine. Same with tanks, a tank by itself in real life is asking to be blown up. |

What was this thread about again?
From what I gather, the game isn't like Call of Battlefield 12 where he can just rambo everything and be the hero just like everyone else. |

Ok, to put it simply. If you're worried about KDR on here. Then you're barking up the wrong tree. That tank you have cost isk. It cost isk to fit it also. If that tank blows up you've just lost isk that you have to make back. This is not the sort of game where you randomly pick whatever setup and weapons you want and then just go unless you're using militia starter stuff. In which case if you try to do CoD or BF style ramboing you'll only get hammered repeatedly. What matters in isk efficiency and whether or not you can afford to keep up on high priced equipment and gear. Or whether you have to cut back due to costs and losses. |

Groza Tragediya wrote:Its not KDR i have an issue with, its the mentality people have. Its ok to run your mouth when you win even though it wasnt you it was your team. I dont understand how people live with that fact in their head. Its odd to me, they must be american.
Actually you're way wrong on that. Most everyone on here that has either played EVE or have been in the beta for a good long while understand the concept of teamwork. If someone is running their mouth about how great they were because they managed to somehow magically make the team win on their own then they're deluded, trying to cap and hold points or even take out a whole team in ambush themselves for a win just isn't happening. Whatever country a person is from has nothing to do with how they act. It's based on how they were raised. If their parents were total toolbags then 9 times out of 10 they're going to be total toolbags no matter the country. |

To the OP; being a lone wolf does work if you are good enough at what you do, and contrary to popular belief, getting a ton of kills in a match does contribute to your team's efforts, even if you are doing so without getting much assistance. All of those people that contributed to a lone wolf's KDR could have helped their team out by hacking key objectives, defending their assets, and so forth. But they can't, because they got killed by some hotshot blueberry that apparently does not know how to use teamwork. Does that sound familiar to anyone, anyone at all?
Putting it simply, even lone wolves can help a team achieve victory, they just need to be damn good at it. :)

Ok, in that situation yes. But, that's someone who is already experienced. I know for certain I am not that good so I stick with team and squad mates. And definitely it's not going to be a rookie in that situation unless they're one of those above average people. Which I do believe we have some right now. And we'll probably have more when it goes open. Realistically in order to do something like that it takes a person who can move, plan and think tactically at the same time. |

Beld is one of the good lone wolfs. He's worked on it for quite awhile now. Maken Tosch is another, so is Calamity Jane, Sha and several others. But, they've had time to do trial and error and theory crafting and more trial and error. Which in this game and EVE online is a major piece. People like to say WOW and other games like it have a lot of theory crafting. New Eden takes the cake on that due to the number of variables alone. This doesn't have quite as many variables as EVE yet. But it's only a matter of time before people start hammering out more spreadsheets, PDFs, manuals and tons of thesis on how to get the most out of everything. |
