it not so much about the inflex of new bloods but more that transgaming/transmedia is going to be a thing one way or another and all eyes are on dust however ccp seems too "unworryed" if you get what i am saying... |

This.
It's worked just fine for Eve. Just look at the game's learning curv... err... cliff. Surprisingly the game's overall brutality and cut-throat culture of "trust no one" is what attracted so many players over the years. |

well the opening tutorial makes things clear and out there with what to expact from the game: you will die you will lose things the list gose on and althought i am in the camp of we should not go too easy on the new guys (hold back a bit so it not a complite meat grinder) i'm mostly coming from a pov of someone who reads industry news every now and again... |

What are you worried about, aside from the fact that any hype is going to blow over once the world see's Dust isn't their favourite Cowadoody, BF3 or Halo but instead pretty much the fundamentals of EVE wrapped around a half-baked fps? |

again trainsmedia gaming is going to be a thing, half baked games can work just play spec ops the line or watch extra credits two part'er on it, ccp did a good thing by not publicly compare it any of those games......j-just watch these videos then play with the following mind set:
http://extra-credits.net/episodes/beyond-fun/ http://extra-credits.net/episodes/spec-ops-the-line-part-1/ http://extra-credits.net/episodes/spec-ops-the-line-part-2/ http://extra-credits.net/episodes/playing-like-a-designer-part-1/ http://extra-credits.net/episodes/playing-like-a-designer-part-2/ http://extra-credits.net/episodes/the-pre-production-problem/ http://extra-credits.net/episodes/microtransactions/ http://extra-credits.net/episodes/playtesting/ http://extra-credits.net/episodes/transgaming/
and in turms of nerfing and sp the following:
http://extra-credits.net/episodes/perfect-imbalance/ http://extra-credits.net/episodes/power-creep/ http://extra-credits.net/episodes/energy-systems/
(off topic: it too early in the morning to try and get my point a cross and im going to be late again for class) |

Since you posed the question, yeah, you are.
Although, I wouldn't use the word "wrong," more like childish. |

yeah never take me seriously man. all joking aside i feel for the noobs and hope as many as possible survive. If they don't its not on us really, more of the game ccp has given us. All we can do it recruit themto our corps and give them all the help we can. solo noobing is going to be rough.
actually when it comes to game play or balancing discussions then yeah, take me seriously. |

I think your optimisim is commendable, there are quite a few good games being developed that will have a far greater success than dust, the last of us springs to mind. |

So when the new guys come in and go, "This is DUST??". We can say, "Yea, should seen it 8 months ago"
I am still getting lag spikes and memory leaks on the same maps, sometimes Ambush spawns me in the OB area and I commit suicide, the general bad state of spawning into an Ambush in general etc etc.
For an open beta there isn't going to be alot of content and there are still alot of bugs. I hope they like it and see the big picture with DUST, but I'm always a pessimist. |

yes but good players will lose interest fast with broken mechanics and lack of depth that was promised. Im not that worried but at the same time..... they are competing with planet side 2 and firefall as well as the better know/polished shooters from consoles. |

For a free game it's less important. People will come and go. Without any fee to purchase the game and without a subscription fee, people have very few obstacles to prevent them from giving the game another shot in the future. First impressions are still important, and Dust is pretty rough right now, but it probably isn't the end of the world. |
