First off, how about spawning inside of them? I'm not asking for a communal team interior, just a place where I can access my fitting screen and maybe the overview map. I'm not even asking for an exterior view, though maybe camera drones could be a nice upgrade (turrets are another potential upgrade though there will be more on this later). There is a lot of wasted potential in the CRUs (and all structures) as we have them now.
I also want to be 100% clear that I am NOT asking for 100% complete safety. CRU's can be either destroyed or hacked regardless of if they are occupied or not. However, if they are hacked while occupied, they need to be hacked twice. The first time is to initiate the shutdown sequence for the CRU, interior life support is one of the first systems to go. If the first hack is successful, you get your cookie points for the hack and any occupants remaining inside begin dying. Instead of circle to respawn or square to call for help it would be circle to exit the CRU and square to call for help (which would cause the CRU to flash and maybe sound a frogsiren). If the occupants don't leave the CRU, they suffocate (no cookie points for you, lol@you for thinking you'd get some). The second hack would be bringing the CRU back online for your team (similar to what we are all familiar with now, cookie points and all). CRUs would still be able to be destroyed the same as we are all familiar with now as well, occupied or not. If an occupied CRU is destroyed, the player responsible for destroying it would get the cookie points for destroying the CRU as well as cookie points for killing each of the occupants.
This would lead CRU's to being a more secure place for a forward spawn which would increase their value on the battlefield. Drop Uplinks on the other hand provide no safety outside the fact that they can be custom placed by their owner (so I'd recommend you get good at hiding them).
Lastly, I think there should also be an option for more of a high altitude aerial insertion. Yes, we have the option of dropping out of the MCC, though TBH, all this does is place you behind your redline under the MCC. There should be some kind of mechanic that allows for actual HALO insertion (whether it is a cannon that fires you into the sky from the MCC or a passing C130 equivalent or true orbital insertion similar to what is seen in the opening video). The aerial insertion should allow for you to be able to place your landing where ever you can land without the need for a visible spawn beacon (like the drop uplink). The downsides to this insertion should be that you can sustain fire while descending in addition to the fact that it is obvious to all who can see, that you've fallen from the sky GÇ£over thereGÇ¥
