Im not gonna lie, IGÇÖm excited for Dust, havent been more excited for any other game since then. IGÇÿve always been fascinated by the Lora and the stories around EVE. Sure most of the gameplay is flaw and needs working, but hey wasnGÇÖt EVE the same way once?
Anyways because of my college Courses aiming towards a major in the Arts , I tend to create scenarios in my head and write them down in paper. This latest one involves DUST, and if it ever is made into an Official Trailer, IGÇÖd be really happy. If any of the Devs even takes it into consideration, IGÇÖd be really happy. I might be posting more trailer ideas into this thread, and any constructive criticism is welcome.
So here you go, my concept for a DUST 514 Trailer. Safe Hunting!
Trailer Begins. (Screen is black and after a few seconds the sound of war loom. Suddenly, the scene starts with a sniper in the distance overlooking the orbital Sky battery from his position.)
As the camera moves closer we can hear his TACNET bursting in chatter, below him a fierce battle is raging below him, pockets of light and visual effects of explosions, grenades, gunfire mark where chaos roam freely.
GǣCommand, this is Alpha 6, we are going downGǪ.Gǥ (in the distance a dropship seems to be going up in flames, falling to the ground.)
Gǣ*burst of gunfire * Sval!! Use that HMG!! We Need to Hold thisGǪGǥ ( tracer rounds from a Heavy machine gun is visually seen from the remains of a collapsed building.
GÇ£Dropship, dropship! Get ouAHHHH!!!! *explosion, growing Static*
GÇ£MEEDDDDI--I-I *cut out by weak signal*
Gǣ*female AI voice* Sky battery at 90% charge, WARNING, enemyGǪ.
-Camera then switches from its previous view to the side view of the sniperGÇÖs helmet, an Caldari assault Dropsuit.
TACNET chatter fades away as the sniperGÇÖs breathing becomes more audibly louder.
(Camera then focuses from his helmeted faceGǪ.)
SniperGÇÖs voice: One Mercenary,
(GǪTo his rifleGǪ)
one gun. One clip.
( Then to his trigger finger and the camera cuts to black)
One round.
(The sound of a sniper rifle being fired and the Camera suddenly moves inside the inner workings of the sniper rifle, leading up to the Beehive round exiting from the barrel)
To the gods, one round means nothing to them;
(the camera zooms out into a still shot, into the golden hull of an Amarrian Avatar, firing its main weapon, Judgment at an unknown fleet, destroying it in one concentrated beam of energy .)
Worthless.. Insignificant. For to them we are nothing more than a speck of dust.
(camera is blocked by a piece of wreckage from the enemy fleet, then the wreckage clears away revealing the remains of the enemy fleet, an optical illusion resembling a mass grave of soldiers.
(The camera pulses, flickers out, then is returned to the battlefield planetside, where the sniper has taken his shot. Camera starts to follow the beehive round as time slows down considerably.)
Here however... on the ground, on the planets we fight, and die in.... its different.
One shot equates to one kill..
( the camera, following the Sniper round passes a scene where a soldier is taken down by a scout using nova knives from the shadows)
Or one death..
( The camera moves past a structure, where we see from the window a squad member cut down by a blast of blue energy, the body of a man is seen flying over another soldier, who is charging at an unknown enemy, firing her shotgun)
One shot can even save our fallen comradesGǪ
(the camera then pans around to reveal a Medic using his Nanite injector to revive a downed heavy behind cover. At the same time another soldier breaks cover and fires his assault rifle at an enemy soldier)
Regardless....These chocies we makeGǪ Our choices are what make us powerfulGǪ because for usGǪ
( time suddenly reverses, up to the point where the sniper is aiming down his sights, towards a part of the sky-battery. The breathing is again heard but suddenly stops)
one shotGǪ
( sniper fires and the camera exits from the scope as it follows the beehive round towards the sky battery, in real time, where an enemy squad was hacking the sky battery, the round strikes a concealed remote explosive, killing the enemy squad, and preventing the enemy from stopping the sky battery. The TACNET blares to life, with the voice of the Commander announcing the firing of the sky-batteryGÇ¥
Command: Gǣ2.GǪ1.GǪ Firing!Gǥ
GÇ£Can destroy what the gods have struggled to build.GÇ¥
( the Camera then switches to view the sky battery firing, Striking the Ammarian Titan and shortly after destroys it, the resulting explosion then turns to the Dust 514 logo, camera fades to black, trailer ends.)
WriterGÇÖs thoughts about the trailer concept. When this idea had first come to mind it was after seeing the 2011 E3 trailer and reading what ordinary civilians thought of the Capsuleers in the short stories. It really came into fruition after I read a comment about EVE pilots seeing us Dust Bunnies as GÇ£ExpendableGÇ¥. ThatGÇÖs when the idea emerged. It feels like the trailer from E3( just noticed that the ending was the same lol), but I decided to ignore the theme of the GÇ£MercsGÇ¥ and go for the massive impact we can bring to the EVE online universe, by the choices of one man, in this case our sniper. GÇ£What if he missed? What if he chose to kill the enemy and not the explosive? Just to name a few. that was for me, the impact I want to feel when DUST is fine-tuned. Obviously taking down a titan is no easy feat I would assume but having it taken down by Dust bunnies? That thought is scary if you look at it that way. Being able for our EVE allies to Directly influence our game was an impressive feature IGÇÖve seen. And with the same applied vice versa, is Equally impressive |

I got goosebumps. Would be awesome, but I feel that this kind of trailer needs to be live action (actors and cameras rather than in game recordings).
I really like it, though It would be awesome if you somehow emphasized what you said earlier about mercenaries being a speck of dust, for obvious reasons, and put it just before the logo.
Amazing stuff. |

Amazing stuff. :D it would feel like it should be live action, i agree with ya on that one.
Thanks for taking the time to actually read it. Please, try to spread the word about this idea if you want to. If we can get CCP do actually do this..... |

Needs an iconic templar 1 line adapted to be used.
"Mankind was Born from Dust, and to dust shall he return... But not us."
Also needs the amarran prophecy about death rejecting men, heralding the END. |

+1 to you good sir, I'm currently writing up another trailer concept based on that sentence. |

Nah, they should use the same prgoram they've done all the other trailers with. Their in house Jessica program. It can use all the material from both games to make their trailers. |

*disappears into the shadows* I hope nobody saw me. funny thing about that bit, i had run out of ideas to place onto the concept and i remembered your thread on being nice with the nova knives. I also knew a game where i was slashed in the back by YOU no less. ( i think it was in the pipeline skirmish map, at the building overlooking C). i didnt know the name but im guessing it was you since you were skilling up into nova knives. so i took random bits of memorable moments in the games i played and tried to write them into the concept. |

Trailer Concept- A MercGÇÖs Last stand.
(Trailer Begins with a close up shot of a MinmatarGÇÖs face inside the helmet. Every breath he tries to takes lead to a vapor of air in the cold. we can see traces of a HUD telling him that he is running out of time. Seemingly giving up, he closes his eyes and waits for the end. The camera fades to black with the closing eyes.
(Suddenly the camera is focused on the MinmatarGÇÿs body, sprawled on the snow. with the armor visibly damaged and charred from an explosion. After a second, a Logistics Soldier runs to his side, checking his vitals. He then turns and fires at an unknown enemy with his pistol.)
*faint voice in the background* GǣheyGǪ up!!!Gǥ
*the voice becomes louder*
GÇ£hang..there....Up damn it!!!GÇ¥
(The sound of an nanite injector is heard as a medic tries to revive him. Sound is restored, and the sounds of a war are what we hear. The body jerks, becoming stiff instantly then relaxes as the Soldier tries to get up, the medic helps him up then hands him his rifle. The minmatar squad leader cocks his rifle and reaches for his TAC-NET)
GÇ£ I need GodGÇÖs hand!!GÇ¥ He orders and begins firing, with a few soldiers covering for him. (the camera turns toward an enemy soldier in the foreground., about to fire at the Medic who revived the squad leader.)
GÇ£Got itGÇ¥ a calm voice is heard through the TAC-NET.
(Camera moves up behind the Enemy soldier and then a sniper shot is heard,. The round strikes the Soldier in the heart, and falls to the ground.
camera then looks over a scout sniperGÇÖs shoulder as he reloads the rifle and continues firing at the enemy.
the scene then shows the squad leader and his squad trying to hold off the attackers. The camera turns around a rock formation to see a friendly heavy shooting his HMG at the enemy.)
GÇ£Enemy making a push!!GÇ¥ the Heavy roars in a thick accent. He finished reloading and begins to fire.
(The camera then turns around and focuses on the logistics soldier constantly trying to heal the Heavy from the rear. Rounds Wizz and snap past the medic while the heavy soaks up the damage. Allied soldiers around the squad. fall or get cut down in the background. The TAC-net is overwhelming in individual chatter.
GÇ£Delta-4 taking fire, evade.GÇ¥ sounds of a continuous beeping*
GÇ£Swarms!!! At your 9!GÇ¥
GÇ£deploying flaresGÇ¥
GǣToo late, BRACE FOR IMGǪ..!Gǥ
*explosion, klaxon is heard*
GǣDamn, shields are gone, armor is cookingGǪ Im losing her, EVERYONE BAIL!!Gǥ
GÇ£Command, we are taking heavy fire, casualties are reaching critical, I repeat, casualties are...GÇ¥*an explosion is heard through the TAC-NET and cuts to static.
GÇ£This is Command, we lost this place, fall back and begin troop evacuation. I repeat, Fallback. Delta-6 and 3, cover Bravo and hold them off as much as you canGÇ¥
GÇ£Alpha , alpha, the sniper is from alpha, Grid C3!!GÇ¥
GÇ£Copy, engagingGÇ¥* shots are heard* GÇ£HeGÇÖs gone, HMG headed your way. Right flank*
GǣEnemy movement at 400 yards andGǪ.TANK!! Get out of there!!Gǥ
GÇ£Forge Gun Depleted, cover me IGÇÖm reloading!!GÇ¥
GÇ£Make it quick!*gasps of frustration and panic* I -I cant hold em off much longerGÇ¥
GÇ£Command this is Bravo Actual, WhatGÇÖs the ETA on that EVAC?!?GÇ¥ the minmatar yells as he reloads his weapon.
GÇ£5 minutes, hold on tight. Delta 3 is coming to pick you upGÇ¥( CommandGÇÖs response is gradually blocked out )
He notices a few enemy soldiers cutting down the last of his allies then turn towards him. Making a last second decision, the squad leader/ relayGÇÖs a command to his squad.
GÇ£Cover the heavy!!GÇ¥
The squad leader covers the HeavyGÇÖs right flank while the rest of the squad covers his left and rear.
( from there things seem to go well. Until the logistics is shot in the head, and seemingly crumples to the floor. From here this has a chain reaction among the squad:
The heavy takes much more damage than usual and begins backing up. The squad follows but they are more exposed than usual. A muffled GÇ£SNIPER!!GÇ¥ is heard but then the soldier who noticed is also shot and killed.
(Camera then begins at the front of the Sniper)
The squadGÇÖs sniper then finds (alternatives between the sniperGÇÿs view of the scope, the enemy sniper and the squad sniper ) and shoots him.
(The camera then returns to itGÇÖs previous view of the front of the sniper. Someone is seen in the background with a shotgun, the sniper notices and tries to react.)
(The camera then focuses on the heavy and the squad leader, the heavy is in the middle of reloading while the minmatar lays down covering fire.)
Then we hear the sniper ruthlessly cut down by 2 shotgun blasts. Over the TAC-NET, he screams then a second shot cuts him off into static.
The heavy tries to reload as fast as he can but then rifle rounds hits his chest then to his head, killing him.
(The camera the moves to the three remaining squad members , the squad leader included falling back to a dropship that recently landed one of them is wounded, screaming for a medic, while the other is carrying the wounded on over his shoulders.)
continued in the second post. |

(Camera lead to a side view of the Squad Leader covering for his squad , killing another 2 enemy soldiers then turns around. However, an enemy grenade explodes, killing everyone and the blast throws the mannarian against a rock formation. The dropship then starts to take off, fully loaded, leaving the squad leader to the mercs, dodging a forge gun round along the way
(Camera turns to a close up shot of the Squad leader. He removes his broken helmet, revealing his face, adorned with his native homelandGÇÖs War tattoo running along the side of his face. As enemy forces make a push to his location, He reaches to the Holo Display on his wrist and calls for an OB directly on his position.the timer counts down in 5 seconds. But before the OB drops, time slows down for the mannarian.)
GÇ£Mankind was born from Dust.GÇ¥
(The Orbital strike goes unnoticed, but the sound of incoming rounds from space alert a few of the enemy. The enemy soldiers were unaware of any strike being made and continue to realize a second too late. Camera overlooks the squad leader as we can see the enemy soldiers , with their guns trained on the squad leader. A few look back to see the OB strike and are about to warn the others.)
GÇ£We have lived and perished.GÇ¥
(The second strike kills everyone within its blast radius. Camera focuses on an unfortunate enemy soldier as the blast throws him to a pointed rock structure and is killed on impact. People can be seen in the background trying to escape. To no avail.)
Gǣwe had thrivedGǪ. And we had survived.Gǥ
(Another OB Round strikes the ground , destroying an HAV close to where the squad leader was sitting down. Debris from the previous OB round is falling down )
Gǣyet we are no longer bound by those chainsGǪGǥ
(Camera then takes a close up shot of the MannarianGÇÖs face, dirty, bloody and scarred with his war tattoo disappearing. He takes a breath and closes his eyes as a glow of white light appears from the top of the screen.)
GǣWe were born from dustGǪGǥ
(Camera suddenly cuts to the black cover with the animation of the DUST 514 logo. The logo fades onto the metal body of a Clone Reanimation Unit.
Camera then focuses on a closed stasis unit. The door hisses and the Mannarian appears, in stasis with his armor on, except for the helmet. His eyes are closed, but the Minmatar War tattoo is starting to appear. The TAC-NET blares to life.)
GÇ£But now, we can never returnGÇ¥
Eyes suddenly open. Less than half a second later the camera cuts to black. Trailer ends.
Writer's notes about the concept with the PSN downtime still not allowing me to chat up with a few war buddies, i decided to take the time to write another trailer concept(actually rewriting it) Musical inspiration was Max Richter's - On The Nature Of Daylight. I wanted to convey that feeling of hopelessness in the mood. thats about as much as i can think of right now, PSN just started up again, but my sis is using it for netflix and im wanting to get at that chocolate milk >:3
until next time,

i like your first idea but the second one is missing the point of the dust mercs a bit. three rules of dust are 1. Death is irrelevant. 2. Clones are cheap. 3. YOU ARE IMMORTAL!
Edit: well **** didnt notice you werent done but a trailer based on those three tenants would be amusing. |

Another Trailer concept, based and inspired by Garrett Blacknova's thread on Sky spawning( Link here: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=44353&find=unread )
Need to study for college, so i'll drop by after a few hours. Good Luck on the field and Safe hunting!
Here goes:
Trailer Concept- Shock troops
(Camera begins with a slow motion close up of a GallenteanGÇÖs Face, as he is strapped to an unknown device, his Assault rifle is magnetically attached to his chest plate.
Camera shifts views to a side view of the GallenteanGÇÖs face. next to him, an Amarrian is Holding a golden pendant, reciting scripture from his religion. To his left, a Caldari male is busy viewing a picture of a group of people in his holoPad. Across from him, a female Mannar medic is staring at the Amarrian praying.)
GÇ£No longer are we hated enemies. Now we are brethren, freed of mortal ChainsGÇ¥
(Camera moves through the hull of an unknown ship, with the logo CCP games etched into the doors before stopping in front of the bridge, among dozens of officers.)
(TAC-NET Chatter)
GÇ£This is the RDST, entering the atmosphereGÇ¥
GÇ£all signs are good ,shields are stableGÇ¥
(camera cuts to the drop-bays, the gallentean nods at the mannar soldier. She turned her focus to the gallentean, nodding in return.)
GÇ£Mannar reviving Amarrian, Caldari assisting Gallente. In this life, who you were before you became immortal means nothing now.GÇ¥
GÇ£All right, lets drop the packa-GÇ¥ *Loud explosion* klaxon is heard as the ship is being rocked by anti aircraft fire.
Unknown officer- GÇ£DAMN IT!GÇ¥ stack fires!GÇ¥
-Captain GÇ£Activate hardeners and repair systems, prepare the cargo!GÇ¥.
( camera switches to an overhead position of the attack force, the bay doors open, revealing a shielded entrance, through the shields, you can see pockets of light popping in distant areas, laser rifles paint a perfect line among the terrain as the battlefield below them paints a picture in the night sky)
Aura: Drop-Sticks 1-8 prepare for insertion.
(Camera shifts views , as the rest of the attack force are seen strapped to the same unknown device within the Rapid deployment shock troops. Before being covered by the helmets. Inside, the helmet powers up, star up sequences and encryptions occur before becoming stable, HUD systems appear and the world is seen again. Camera changes view to the outside of the helmet, once again. A close up of the gellentean in black orbital drop suit. The helmet closely resembles a black hood as the other drop suits do as well.)
Gallentean: GÇ£If only New Eden was like this..GÇ¥
Aura: 5..4..3..2..1 Dropping.
(Camera switches to a side view of the shock troops by twos, the soldiers are detached from the machine and fall into the battlefield. Camera then moves up follows the Gallentean as he drops, into a Savage battlefield. Explosions nearby have killed a few shock troops as he skydives into the flak, avoid the bodies of his men.. having no shields, one hit would kill you instantly as he dodges and weaves in the sky. In his TAC NET , chatter could be heard from his allies side: )
Squad commander: GÇ£whereGÇÖs the god-damn shock troops!!GÇ¥
Unknown Soldier: GÇ£there they are! Above us!GÇ¥
Sqd commander: GÇ£This is Talon -Actual, do NOT drop along side us, I repeat do not drop here, they are tearing us apart, do you copy!?GÇ¥
Unknown Shock trooper: GÇ£Phantom copies all, will drop inside their defenses and take them from within.GÇ¥
Talon Actual: GÇ£are you crazy?! YouGÇÖll be surrounded!GÇ¥
Phantom: GÇ£Just be ready to cover our approach. Phantom outGÇ¥
(Camera Switches to the squad commander as he finishes reloading then yells out commands to his squad. He pushes out from cover and begins firing his assault rifle.)
GÇ£Suppressing Fire!GÇ¥
(Camera swithces to the inside of the GallenteanGÇÖs helmet TAC NET is updated to attack and destroy the enemie's defenses. He maneuverGÇÖs himself over the installation and activates his Dampeners over an enemy who is using his Laser rifle at his allies.)
GǣWe are Free from deathGǪ but now, we are trapped in the endless cycle called war.Gǥ
(Camera shifts from the soldier firing the laser rifle, to the skies as the shock trooper falls towards the camera, the distinct shielding of the inertia dampener changes into the animation of the Dust Logo. Camera cuts to black, Trailer Ends)
Writer's thoughts on the concept/Idea: Watch Band of Brothers, second or third episode. Enough said.
