Slow your roll kimosabe, from what I can tell a good many of these "horrible" new players have been waiting for one of /both of the following:

actual relevance of dust in new eden.
The arrival of these players, stakeholders in the game for longer then you've know about it, merits their opinions being heard. In fact, their arrival has rendered small, "elite pvp" corps irrelevant overnight.
alot of these "NEW" players havn't played too much to see the type of things that worked well in dust and the type that didnt many dont know what it is like to get out of militia gear and experience other tier gear. CCP didnt start heavily nerfing EVERY weapon until "NEW" people showed up Oh my bad. The nerfing has been at least a huge headache. Same with the daily SP cap
Replication was so minimal, and there were so many technical issues that it was difficult sometimes to get a sense of what was possible in terms of gear progression, balance, attacks and counter attacks. But one the thing that was great about that one map was seeing the evolution of strategy as people skilled into different areas. The matches really changed over time and you could really anticipate this amazing potential for DUST to be unlike any other game out there.
But those changes (edit* all the many nerfs, that is) were asked for here in the forums.
A lot of changes have been made that rendered the game much more bland, generic, safe, humdrum, expected, formulaic, uninspired than I expected it to be both by way of CCP's and EVE Onlines's reputation, and just from playing Replication. I welcome the contribution of new players from EVE Online side as faction warfare and hopefully nullsec warefare get fleshed out. But there were many many changes to moment to moment gameplay where some potentially inspired and exciting stuff got thrown out or toned down to the detriment of the game as a whole.
Edit* Should be noted that one of the first nerfs was to mobility and happened earlier in replication. I only heard about it. THe first big nerf was to the heavy. People were crying about the heavy long before the beta was opened up to a whole slew of ne testers through playstation home, E3, IGN, everyone who plays EVE can get in, and a few of other promotions.

or we could just call it a bitter dust merc badge and call it a day so much truth to this statement. ...
Couldn't agree more. Even though I am one of the scrubs. But at the end of a few matches now I don't feel any better about my playing or skills. Sometimes just feels kind of flat. It was much more of a rush to go up against a heavy in replication or an creodron in E3 and really have to work to survive. Felt like more of an accomplishment.
It is really great that the game runs much better than it ever has. But my self esteem is as it always has been. And my KDR still blows.
CCP can always add in items that could spice things up a little. But from what I have seen the best counter against anything that kills you is the forums. No need to learn how to deal with a seemingly beastly weapon or vehicle on the field of battle. Just make a thread and CCP will surely nerf. |
