So, yesterday, I couldn't play more than a match because I went out with some friends, you know, just to take some fresh air, dancing, just "living my life".
Did I lose all those SP that I couldn't get? (like 28 000 SP). Yes? Ok.
Can I recover those SP? NO? Ok.
So so so saaaaaad. Oh my god, why do I have a life.
Selling my life for 25 000 SP.
Edited: Weekly SP is so much better. If you get all your SP in 1 or 2 days, it's ok, then you will play for fun, or ISK. Now it's the same but day by day. 5 match, then play for fun. Don't like it, NO! |

After a while, you won't care about a few days, or even weeks, of sp's you didn't gain because you weren't playing. The game will be about much more than just sp's, particularly once you've skilled well for at least one fit. |

It is because people have gotten used to this idea of "Getting to the End Game" from mmo's to fps's people just grind and grind until they have unlocked everything. COD progressed this a lot and even had to add the ridiculous idea of "Prestige Mode" where you just grind all over again to unlock the same stuff....10 times or something.
DUST is a long term game, just like EvE. Where you could never concievably unlock EVERYTHING. It is more about general progression of your character while you enjoy killing lots of people and being in a massive online community, working with eve pilots to make your mark on the universe.
+Once you reach higher level equipment people will be playing for ISK not SP as the load outs cost a hell of a lot. |

i know the intent of the capped sp system was to make the game more fair to casual players but as the OP points out the daily cap does favor the hardcore player a lot..... i have a life a 6 year old daughter and a wife.... i can easily say its easier for me to take a few days a week playing dust but my wife really isnt liking me playing a couple hours EVERY DAY. with work too she is starting to complain already that i am not spending enough time with her and my daughter.
CCP i think if you truly want the casual player or the player that just cant play 7 days a week to feel like they arent getting left behind i think the weekly cap would be better. now i realize the daily cap is better financially for CCP but i think the weekly cap is better in the long term.

I don't see why people care so much about being behind. I'm behind and I don't care. News flash, it happens in pretty much every game you play, someone will always have the better car or gun etc (until you max out if you want to get all technical). |

I know this is a little off topic, but the previous posts lead to this reply... The reason people are concerned about the sp cap and how it is implemented is because the difference between starter gear and high level gear seems astronomical when you are on the receiving end of it. For instance, almost every game I have a case where I shoot an enemy for more than a second, barely damaging his shields. Then, he turns around and it appears to me that it only takes 5-10 of his bullets to kill me. That's not right, I don't care who you are.
The reasons it is a problem are: 1. futility will drive new players away 2. The better gear for better gameplay mechanic actually detracts from the objectives based gameplay (This game is full of features that would make tactics and teamwork fun like drop uplinks, nanohives, team spawning dropships. However it doesn't matter how much you can flank your enemy or how much teamwork you can use if your enemy can just turn around and kill you in a third the time that it takes to kill him)
The conclusion to my little diatribe: I really want to like this game. I like the look of it. I like the ideas behind it. I like that many of the players were former colleagues in MAG. However, for me at least, this game is not fun to play. The aiming speed feels twitchy in a weird, slow, uncontrollable way. The player movement feels spongy. In short, it doesn't "feel" good as a shooter.
Thank you for your time, sorry for off topic, Wolf |

Point 1 always intrigues me, because its not the first time I've heard it. EVE has the same mentality, yet it's a consistently growing game. Obviously, is not the largest MMO out there, but who cares. DO new players join then quit, absolutely. Who cares.... The ones that stick around are the ones CCP wants. If someone joins eve or dust with the expectation of being boss and quit when they aren't, good riddance. The players that see the game for what it I'd will sick around even if they get killed a lot
Point 2: if teams were truly playing together, a few people in adv suits wouldn't matter unless it's even numbers. If that's the case, DON'T ENGAGE. Use different tactics, get them to split up and pick them off. Real military won't run in head first again unfair odds, why would you?
As a side note, people complaining about K/D ratio getting messed up are playing the wrong game. You will die, a lot, get used to it. If you are only playing for leaderboard slots, you are not an asset to your squad, corporation, or alliance. |

I guess it depends on what CCP wants from this game that they're developing. If it's just a shooter for EVE players then they can do anything they want with the gameplay and make it stink as much as they want for new players knowing that they will stick around because their loyal fans enjoy the pain. What I'm saying regarding futility really ties into how bad this game feels as a shooter. If I can aim and hit people and use cover well, then I should be able to do ok. Not awesome, just ok. But I can't, and that's frustrating. I want this game to be at least as fun as MAG but at the moment I can't make myself play more than a few matches in a row because I don't play video games to get angry.
I think CCP wants more than just a little shooter for their EVE fans. I bet they really deep down hope that this game can compete with HALO and fill a niche that COD doesn't. They need to work on the aiming feel and player movement speed |
