The game should make it obvious when you hit the cap. Also 50 sp is silly low. 500-1000 would be reasonable.
Also don't worry op the cap will get reworked again , not sure how , but the devs confirmed it. |

500 - 1000 gives the no lifers a huge gain in sp over 50/75. Its a cap to stop people from getting crazy far ahead just because they have unlimited gaming time compared to those of us who work or have class... of those pesky social lives. |

I'm skeptical about the size of this "no lifer" community. I doubt it's as you think. I don't deny that there are people without jobs, spouses, or daily responsibilities that let them play longer than others. Nor do I deny that those players get an advantage from higher base SP caps.
My question to you is: "Wouldn't these people be ahead of you anyway? Furthermore, shouldn't they be?"
Most events naturally work in favor of those who commit more time. I would expect that my room mate - an avid hockey player - would be much better than I am at hockey because he practices everyday. Were I to compete with him, it would sound silly to limit how much time he could practice to make things "even" between the two of us. Were he lazy, he wouldn't play hockey even if he had "no life". If he was truly dedicated to being the best hockey player he could be, he would dedicate himself to th task. This would, in turn, keep him from playing DUST as often as me. It wouldn't make sense for him to limit my play to keep himself competitive.
And so the pattern repeats.
I think this issue is largely irrelevant due to the volume of players who report it. If eighty percent of the player base can't play seven days a week, they won't be competitive with every player. They will be competitive with most players.
This is the balance that I think should be sought. I want DUST to be as pure a meritocracy as it can be. Those who devote time to the game should be rewarded for it. There should be ample rewards for all schedules, and matchmaking to further match players with equal competition. Barring these solutions, a diversity of game modes would alleviate - but not eliminate - the strain between unmatched players by making some game modes with casual players in mind. Hi-Sec matches, a DUST Slayer app that worked like "Words with Friends", PvE, a campaign, or other non-combat game modes would allow those who still feel non-competitive to have fun in a different way.
Take care, PS |

You do realize that once we have a proper matchmaking system the "no lifers" will be playing against each other and you will be facing evenly matched foes. |

If there's not going to be another character reset, will we get a bonus on SP for what we have missed out on in the time it takes to sort out the cap? We have spent money on boosters which have been limited by the cap. |

Get over yourself. You spent 43 cents on boosters. Boosters you aren't even required to buy. |

The cap is not there to keep everyone even, it is there to keep YOU from skilling up too fast. CCP wants progression at a certain rate and set he cap to achieve it.
If they give out more than a token bit of SP after the cap is reached, then they break thier mechanism.
It is human nature to want to progress as fast as possible. People don't like to wait. We are like little kids who want all the candy right now and CCP is the parent doling it out a piece at a time. |

When I think about it now it makes sense to have a cap. You see similar things in other games with free to play business models.
But 50 sp per match is a little low in my opinion. I think it should be 200-400 with a payout that scales accurately to your contribution or rank, rather than "oh you hacked a thing good job, heres a penny" |

It takes about 2 hours to hit the cap.
That's 2 hours of work a day for 25,000sp
Now if you were to gain 1000 sp a match after that it would take 25 games, or 10 hours to get another 25,000 sp. If it was 500sp it would take 20 hours to get 25,000 sp.
I'm one of those only plays 2 hours a day person, but what about the weekends? I can't play every day of the week. The no lifers have an even bigger leg up in the current system. If you can only play 2 days a week for 5 hours a day, meaning a total of ten hours. The no lifers have been playing the same amount that week, but have 150,000 sp than me for the same hours of game play. How the hell is that fair to us casual players.
If you have a life you will fall behind crazy fast with the current system. There is no way to catch up by playing more on the weekends. You can play the same nmber of hours and be behind by 100,000sp just becuase you can't play video games every day of the week. |

I think CCPs concept is EVE style passive plus a small active bonus. With the emphasis on small and bonus. Play for the money and the camaraderie. Oh, and the shooting in the face. |

Exactly, even if you do have a life and can't play every single day.....you will fall behind and will never catch up. That daily sp is lost forever. The weekly skill cap was good because you can catch up if you miss a few days.
What's also tripping me out is that many EVE players are in favor of this daily cap for the simple fact that they don't want to fall behind the "no lifers". Well, in EVE, there is no way of catching up to someone who has been playing for a year or more. It doesn't matter how long you play and it seems they're ok with it. |

The issue is if you can only play on 3 days out of the week, it doesn't matter if you play as much as someone who plays everyday. You log in finally able to play on the weekend and you can only play 4 matches before, that's it, you wasted your whole weeks worth of sp becuase you couldn't log in every day. |
