Well, the swarm works mostly okay on the HAV. Since I only got half the kill somebody I didn't see helped me finish it off. I don't know with what, unfortunately.
Then I decided to take out the CRU that the Reds kept spawning in on and retaking if we Blues got to it. I shot a sniper that came after me with my Scrambler. I wish that had been on video as it was the blind waltzing with the drunk while trying to kill each other. Finally put an end to the disruption and went back to putting swarms into the CRU. Without a Hive I wouldn't have been able to get to the armor. Pathetic.
Just as the CRU Armor is finally down enough that I think I can take it a Red shows up and two Blues. I shot the Red with the scrambler. Then they captured the silly thing. Argh! If you want it so bad then defend it! At least I got two kills with the pistol while tickling the CRU as it studiously ignored me.
Anybody that thinks Militia Swarms are OP have, apparently, never used them. |

I'm assuming the CRUs/supply depots are meant to feel invincible so that people will hack them instead of trying to destroy them. Turrets on the other hand are pretty easy to destroy.
Besides, the only way these structures are going to be taken down is by an upgraded forge gun or a high tier swarm launcher, which aren't worth it just for destroying structures. |

You are probably right. I was only thinking from the other side. Kill Tings.
One of my issues is that HAVs just drive around, if they are used at all, destroying everything*. I understand destroying Turrets as they can be quite the threat. But Supply Depots and everything else gets old. I know Installations are worth +100 but sometimes it destroys the options for the Blues.
So, I was exercising my non-HAV-driver options. And testing the swarm. I did have a reason but the Blues finally captured it. Maybe it is just me having trouble with noobs.
Do HAVs do this in Corp play as well? Or is someone actually in charge?
*to be fair, I have see a few suppressing Reds and defending Blues that were capturing objectives. |

Anybody that thinks Militia Swarms are OP have, apparently, never used them. also talking game wise HAV are supposed to have some mobility what restricts the amount of weight it can carry (thus having less life than CRUs and Depots) and it should be carried by an RDV a CRU and a Depot are supossed to have as much life as possible because they might be vital for the team they have no mobility thus there shouldnt be a weight problems because theyre dropped from space and the most important thing is... THEY ARE HARMLESS they dont cause any kind of direct damage to anyone so there should be a need to destroy it and it can be used by both teams |

Good points, both of you.
I have watched several more HAV drivers and there are noobs there as well. Not that I didn't realize that. The most experienced took out the Installations the Blues couldn't or wouldn't take and hold. Supply Depots are instant Swarm or Forge Fits so that I understand better because now I also like to use those options more often. It is one of the reasons I hate to see all of the SDs being destroyed. I don't want to have to die to get my Swarm or switch back to Assault, Heavy or Logi.
The newer HAV driver just drove around shooting every Installation that was safe to shoot at. The Null Cannons were being over run, the Large Blaster Turret would have routed the Reds with any luck but it didn't happen. And pretty soon the HAV driver and the Blues ignored each other. To the detriment of the battle. I have done better in a blaster tank and I have only run one a half dozen times.
I also watched some HAV driver sit back on a hill in Line Harvest and shoot missiles (I think, looked like big shells) from afar. Managed to place first on the board but was mostly useless. We lost because the noobs could not get out past the Red Line. I put a clip of Charge Sniper rifle rounds into it and it finally moved out and help take C. Then it returned and stayed there for the rest of the match. The one and a half squads of good Blues couldn't keep ahead of the Reds. We did hold C for most of the rest of the match.
The missiles (?) that one tank was firing were not very effective it seemed to me. Long range but slow. You could almost run away from them. Sideways but out of the way. So the installation destruction accounted for most of the WP. Probably was real proud of that even if it was lower than most HAV totals I have ever seen. Oh well.
Thanks. |
