From my perspective, the link between Dust and EvE needs to be stronger than just ISK. EvE with no industry would not function. Dust without industry will not function. It's all about the PI. Even if it starts out as something like a Facebook game for the first few months. Then they can add a similar option to Captains Quaters.
Now here's a VERY brief overview from my nOOb EvEtard knowledge.
EvE pilots can install a Command centre on a planet, scan to find areas rich in gas/minerals, and build some extractors. Link it all up and you're laughing. You can upgrade things and refine your product to higher grade material. Collecting it and keeping it all optimised is hassle apparently, I've not got that far yet.
EvE pilots can sell/manufacture these products. If Dust can have even the lowest grade of this planetary infra structure we have our link. Mining is the life blood of EvE (and emergent gameplay). If Dust launches with no ability for carebears to skill into Industry I think it would be a huge mistake. PI is a very small sector of the market as I understand, but it isn't about that.
This is about having linked infrastructure. It's about Dust having it's own unique niche. It's about carebears. Because they're the ones who care. We're just Mercs, but we are immortal. We should not look to the stars for help, but the planets we call our home. |

I would love to end a long day of murder with some nice relaxing industrial activities.

The plans are that dust 514 soldiers could possibly install facilities that makes 'scanning' the area better for PI owners thus increasing the value of any district with it. However dust 514 owners could tax the use of the land since they own it. |

I've been very hesitant about PvE in this game to this point. To me, this game has always been about planetary conquest, and so PvE (and by extension industry) has never been logical in terms of the lore explaining why it was there. I'm all about the lore.
But, you raise a valid point. It's not not just about conquest - it's about resources. Now, I can see fighting drones to get at resources. That makes more sense. Thank you. |
