Because, this way you have a metric crapton of unlocks, new weapons and new tactics over time.
Past that, go back to the weekly cap, minus the diminishing returns BS, with the hardcap in place for the week. feels less obnoxious |

I haven't heard that they is a limit to the SP, not talking about the cap, but you are unlimited in time.
All other games I played were limited to a certain level, like MAG was limited to level 70, then no more XP.
I guess it is a way to keep the game fair, if you are a new player or vet.
But then again this is my though. |

I completely agree. I am nowhere close to an elite player, actually better than a noob but not much. If you are going to cap anyone it should be your spawn killers and cheats that do nothing but rage kill.
There is a reason that we left MAG and MOH and it is because of this one detail. I have made no more than 35000 SP today, after spending the last three months trying to build a character, and now, starting from scratch, I get Rage Effed half the night by L33ts that have figured out a way to bypass the cap. It is the only way they can have the weapons, DS;s and Tanks that we cannot compete with.
So BIG question, WHY AM I CAPPED? |

I mean yea it sucks if there's stuff you want to unlock but I don't really think it's a gamebreaker. But I mean that's just me, seems a lot of other people are really upset about it. Guess it feels more like EVE now. They should just say screw the cap garbage and introduce new, more specific skills to encourage specialization. Then this cap stuff won't matter as much. |

Does any FPS nowadays really have some progression system? Quake Live and CS don't have any as far as I know. Halo has some, but only for appearance. Why "farming" is so important to you? |

Im becoming aquainted with the daily cap, and happy that its not going to be easy to earn a boat load of SP, plus it means people who take the time to actually plan what they need will be rewarded Vs someone who will throw their SP into anything willy nilly. The only thing that needs to happen is to "roll-over" what SP hasnt been gained thus far.
It was laughable last night, people who where "Pro" where getting slammed with the gear disparinty gone, it was all down to skill and teamwork, and it appears that one too many 'no lifers' aren't actually that good they just have time on there side. Hoepfully with the new SP system in place its going to keep things on more of a even battlefield.
Specialisation is key now guys, L2P. |

True enough for now, but what happens when isk is flowing freely from eve? Then there won't be a whole lot of reason to o anything except get your sp and log out. That is based on the current game play available.
If more reason for corp battles and Emersion type district battles then there will be plenty of reason to play. But the way it sits now the sp grind was a very rewarding factor that kept bringing you back for more now its play 4-6 games and go play something else. |

Someone said yday it was more like EVE
I never thought of it that way tbh, because in EVE you have to wait for skills to complete and what you do while you wait is make ISK
This way it generally means that the players in general who all start on the same date will be roughly at the same SP give or take a few
While new players who do join later on will be at a disadvantage but can still specialize where as that veteran may be a jack of all trade master of **** all
Plus the skills will take longer to get to lvl5 past 1x skills, thus 7yrs of skill training is possible |

I would agree if the market was open. It's not like I can play the market or mine/plex while I'm capped.

I don't think it will be too long before its obvious what we are fighting for. DUST/Eve corps will begin owning and maintaining planets, protecting them from drone invasions and the like. Imagine that there is a Factory that is making robotics in your district. It could be really profitable if some invading corp came in and pillaged the place and try and take the scrap for themselves.
Also, in reference to the veterans being OP for new players, firstly, if we get a good amount of new players then they will mostly be matched with other newer players, second, it will be a trade off and will be about money. You can die in a starter suit a thousand times and if you kill a guy in a skinweave and grenade spam a few scouts to death you will have killed a million times more than it cost you to be there. |

The point in SP cap: So that people who have no lives can't just grind all day every day and have ridiculous gear while people who have lives fall far behind them and can't compete because of not only difference in gear but experience in game. That's the thing, you do get something from playing... Isk and experience, just playing the game a lot you get more used to your sensitivity so your aim gets better, you learn the maps better, the usual routes people take. Basically, practice makes perfect and just because your SP is capped doesn't mean you can't jump into another match and get better at the game without having to rely on SP.
Personally I don't care, I think this game is more skill based when the gear between players is even. Very early stages of Dust were complete BS, 100% grind to win. At least now grinding is slow and the effectiveness in gear has a smaller gap. Much better now. Before it was like, grind all day, get super gear, kill low SP players in a few shots and laugh as you soak a stupid amount. Trololol, rinse and repeat.
Balance is important in FPS games, that's why I think it'll be interesting to see how Dust goes.
Personally I don't need to be earning SP to have a reason to play, being a casual gamer I'm usually done by the time I hit cap anyway so the cap works perfect for me xD and I think that's what they're aiming for. Making it so that casuals who don't have all that time or motivation to put in the time grinding can still keep up with others in SP. Daily cap over weekend probably so they can guarantee activeness throughout the week. |

Agreed. I don't understand why there even needs to be a cap if there are derminishing returns, so long as they dont go crazy with it (which they prolly would).

SP limits are in Dust by design, so don't expect them to disappear.
As far as I can tell, the idea is that CCP don't want players who sign-up, play it to death for a few weeks until they max out their character and then move on to the next game to do the same thing there. I suspect they understand that there are lots of FPS players who want that, but I believe those players aren't the target market.
They want players to feel heavily invested in their character, and also their corporation, as they have found that when this happens players are likely to continue playing indefinitely. Their experience of Eve "veterans" who have been playing for five or more years tells them this is possible, and that is what they are looking to replicate in Dust.
In essence, they want players who are in it for the long haul, and SP limits are part of the process for making sure they get them. If the limits drive away some players with a more short term view, I imagine that is viewed as a price worth paying. |

So BIG question, WHY AM I CAPPED? lolwut? You can compete with the stuff. If someone has a semi decent tank then he has no points in suits/guns. Someone can put everything into AR but chances are they have a suit that's type I etc. I don't understand why people get so worked up about someone being ahead of them. I don't play every day and tbh I couldn't care less if someone is ahead of me. Bad players will be bad no matter how good the gear and vice versa, sure it can help but it's not be all end all. |

If there's going to be an SP cap, the active SP booster needs to last longer, I feel like I wasted the AUR being that I can't utilize it fully. If nothing else, the SP Booster should be on pause while you're SP Capped. |

An active skill booster increases the daily cap from 27,200 to 40,800. Extra skillpoints you absolutely cannot get without an active skill booster.
