I think a Electronic Counter Measures Grenade would be really cool for combat.
What it does,
You throw the grenade and it explodes sending a shrapnel of nano robots into the splash area. The nano robots infect enemy suits with a virus that that suit has to fight off. While your suit is fighting off the virus your speed is reduced 50% from what it originally was. It causes no physical dmg. After a amount of time the suit fights the virus off and restore systems in a sort of cascade effect, so you lost systems in order of less vital dropsuit functions then you gain them back in order of vital systems first to less vital. speed would taper down then back up again as the suits internal systems fight off the virus attacking its motivator control units.
It could also potentially make.... OF COURSE NOT ALL OF THESE BTW! or maybe not any just ideas of what it could do.
Charged forge gun lose its charge and has to restart
Drop suits repair at slower rate
Rep guns repair at a slower rate
Radar becomes less reliable IE the scan threshold is higher or less whichever one its supposed to be :P so its harder to detect a stealthed unit.
Could make vision staticy
Could shut down nanohives in the spread zone.
Could prevent orbital call ins
weapons cannot cool themselves as effectively so they overheat faster
lowers FOV
That is about all the ideas I had for it. It could have just 1 or all of these functions and it could last I feel about 1 second or so i have no idea. I have no idea what would be a good spread range or what a proto would do different from a base one. Would need to be tested so it was balanced.
I am more interested in the idea then the particulars basically its main function is to slow units down for a very short amount of time and mess with their suits systems. |

This is a very interesting idea that I would like to see implemented in a different way. Currently, Dust lacks the "Genre changing" FPS mechanics we've all been looking forward to. I'd like to see these effects/debuffs/etc. made into core game mechanics. Heavy fire - sniper rounds, scrambler pistol or rifle rounds, etc. - should deal temporary system damage to our drop suits. Headshots should damage The way drop suits use Tacnet as you detailed. Leg shots should slow targets down until their armor repper kicks in. Shooting the arms should gimp reloading or aiming, depending on the arm shot.
This is a very interesting post though. Nice work. Take care, PS |

How do you manage to stun an enemy when there are hardly any rooms to enter in this game? God knows better... |
