MAG got hated because of graphics in the beginning. If you played the game for the first time , you were put in a game mode that was no different then any other FPS with terrible graphics. It wasnt till grinding to lvl 6 did the game start to get fun and begin to understand the reason for lower graphics. Also Zipper was going under and not supporting the game.As well as they were doing a hail mary with socom4 but didnt win.
As for in regards to Dust, its because MAG was the closes attempt on a MMOFPS on the PS3. So when trying to develop a MMOFPS Dust is classified as its used a lot. The hate comes from everyone knows dust will be a MMO but everyone wants the end part to be different. RPG or FPS. The genres dont mix like oil and water.
MAG had
Customization Loadout screen Un lock gear Skill set Player creation Squad/Army structure Commander Experience points Player counts Different game modes Faction Warfare Orbital strike like mechanics
A lot things Dust saids it wants and still stayed a FPS |

I promised myself i wouldn't argue on this forum anymore .Im now in a position where there is no point ,let the game sink or swim because the developer and the player base have their hands over their ears screaming la la la. Even with remarks like MAG felt like a paintball game and dust doesnt. Or Dust isn't a RPG.

I found this guy from these forums and he hit the nail on the head. He is blunter and meanier that I would like to be but his points really do show how a FPS player thinks about RPG`s |

no he blasts every game your right equally and have enjoy them all even games i have played but he is dead on about the MMORPG combat in my opinion. Im not fighting with you and in fact just saying why its oil and water because many RPG players are trying to bring that grind aspect with bigger boots into dust that really off puts every other genre. |

I have nothing against skills , this is always the misconception. Throw the baby out with the bathwater thinking on your part. I dont like the SP skills that increase a players damage, shields, armor, and range. Every other skill is appropriate and those four concepts should only be changed through modules + gear. Not for a one time payment I get all the weapons BPO. Ive gotten used to buying weapons every death in dust over the 4 months ive been in this beta. With all the SP cap problems and no one wearing protogear threads you would think CCP would at least consider maybe it might be the SP on those four subjects that create this need to wanna have SP so fast,
Right now SP is not about unlocking as it is about surviving. That was one thing MAG did well in a MMOFPS setting. No one felt in Mag if i didnt play for a week I wouldnt be able to survive the next week or cause any damage. Also Snipers couldnt SP their way to heavy armor hitpoints.
Mag also created a real faction warfare , that i dont see dust players having since corps are made up of all factions. I cant argue lore with you since my only introduction is the dust start up about factions. The only thing I think that shouldnt be gear related and more SP related is the nanite injectors because we need to make the medic use it more and want the player to want to be revived by it. |

how does 5X damage increase come into play with aim practicing? You didnt fit anything you just had 6 more days or what ever time period with passive SP. Also you didnt fit anything when you clicked on fluid mechanics and watched your starter fit go from 150 hp to 185hp in armor as a example. No modules that someone had to craft, no gear that someone had to craft. With the removal of those skills you would actually make the player market ten times better because fits would be required.
Also like WOW??? in no way is it like WOW, Right now Dust has more of a WOW leveling system then any other FPS. |

the numbers where meaningless, because they were just SP points that were used to unlock items not get more hitpoints, As long as you believe you should do more damage , have more hit points just because you played longer than the other player its no different than WOW progression. Even though Eve throws out all the skills at once and you slowly add to them with passive SP its still a MMORPG progression like WOW. where you start off with nothing and slowly get more damage and armor just for playing. Ask any FPS player do you ever get more hitpoints the longer you play a game? the answer will be 99% no but yes weapons do more damage but not at the range lvl 5 SP damage skill will do. More like the 3 different lvl AR`s we have now in dust.I know your a huge Eve CCP fan and its number one on your list of games but as long as you keep trying to jam the Eve piece into how to fix the FPS problem like spawning and calling every other FPS that solved these problems for the last 10 years crap the development will go no where.Watch a review of MAG not once was Spawning or boring game modes ever complained about that threads on dust are usually about.
You can reply with you cant possible understand CCP Oz stuff but I wanted this thread to slide 2 weeks ago till the quote and question started, but the locker room posts dont drop at all. Dont worry I wont be posting past next week corrupting your Eve 2.0 when my new schedule starts. |
