So, with this "daily cap" being all the rage , (and the rage of the players) i've been doing some thinking. after a few ideas on SP systems, one particular thought crosses my mind. "**** it all, give us all the power in the world, but make us WORK for it in the theatre"
allow me to elaborate: Im planning on becoming a semi-dedicated sniper(until then im logged off until i can buy a decent mic), so for this new system im proposing active repetition as a means of advancing our skills in our weapons of choice. In other words : practice makes perfect. the more we use a weapon of our choosing, the more proficient we can become in it. this applies to many of the other relevant skills we need for other purposes:
For example: using a caldari suit in combat will net you experience in the Caldari assault Dropsuit skill. if you are shot, your close to death and you have an armor repair module you can heal yourself in the middle of combat, you will not only become proficient in the C.A.DS. skill but in armor repair systems, combat engineering, and shields. what you do in that suit, as well as the other contribution you make in the battle field will result in an increase in proficiency towards relevant skills.
Think of the fitting you use right now. all those possibilities, right there in your hands. all the power in the world, and the more you use that power, the more proficient you will become, the more effective you can be.
now, you still need to purchase skillbooks in order to introduce yourself to that skill but once you buy the item, continued use of that skill will increase you proficency in that skill
so what happens to the tiered weapons levels?well i was thinking; when your proficiency reaches a certain point you can then use advanced gear ( i suggest buying a skillbook to be able to use advanced suits) and when you are proficient in advanced gear you will be able to use prototype gear (using the same method to be able to wear prototype gear .
I'm tired so I'll post this now so i don't forget. I will add more in the near future.
until next time,
Safe hunting |

Addendum#1.1 this system eliminates grinding; in the sense that other weapons-fittings cannot be used to improve another fitting. you can grind for Isk,thats the whole point of battling; earning that Isk. But you cant be proficient in shotgun operations if the weapon you use is the duvolle assault rifle.
example:
Assault Rifle Operation; [////-////-////-////-////]
Assault Rifle Proficiency: [////-///+-++ - - ]
Scrambler Pistol: [////-// - - - ]
Laser Rifle Operation: [////- - - - ]
Shotgun Operation: [??? - - - - ]
Armor Repair Systems [////-////-////-/ - ]
if you want to become proficient in using the shotgun, you have to actively use the shotgun, grinding for skills using the assault rifle isnt going to work as it'll only contribute towards assault rifle proficiency (noted by the question mark in the shotgun operation and the plus symbols in the assault rifle proficiency.)

Addendum # .2 Random Idea ISK is what makes the universe go around, SP, how good your gun is or how good your dropsuit is wont matter, it is how much ISK you can rack up. which is why i'd like to give something for the newbs.
although you will be new to the game, you will be facing against and with hardened veterans of DUST closed beta and the like, and as much as you try, we will enjoy using you squishy meat as target practice. Fatboys will enjoy turning you into swiss cheese, shotgunners will laugh sadistically as they run around in circles around you then shoot you in the back, AR riflemen will see you as nothing more than an insect. and snipers (Myself included) will smile as you pathetically try to bunny-hop your way into safety, only for us to snipe you at the very end.
But, not all is bad. since we are mercs, we will do anything for ISK.(it does not mean we will sell our bodies to clients in Jita, we are not whores) including lvling up your proficiency.
it is simple- send out an request- or contract asking to help you in skills, any of our mercs would respond, they will set their fee, you click OK. you will receive in the mail a relevant skill-book and when you activate it, you will receive a small bonus towards that skill.
Be careful though, you can only do this once. |
