Too many threads on SP - each one has the same idea that is just BRILLIANT imo.
All SP un-earned from 1 day is pushed into day 2 - where it'll continue to accumulate to the next days cap until a certain day of the week is hit - where then it will reset.
It balances out almost every complaint of hardcore vs casual. Hell - I'm sure even hardcores could get behind this idea.
I didn't see any thread discussing this one idea as a solution rather then SP in general - so I'm putting it forth for discussion to see if there's a side of this idea I don't see. |

I made an edit since I can see where you're coming from with that comment lol |

D'Finn Rhedlyne wrote:DJINN leukoplast wrote:D'Finn Rhedlyne wrote:DJINN leukoplast wrote:Yeah, I proposed this exact idea a while back. SP rollover from each day until a defined day of the week, in which it will be reset. Rinse and repeat.
It's a pretty great idea and would appease both sides of the party. Daily cap that is reset everyday, IF you play, rolls over if you don't play. Resets every Tuesday like weekly cap did. Job sorted. Everybody happy. Not sure about the 'if you play' part. Cause what exactly does that mean for the SP that rolled over from say, 3 days worth? Is it all reset too even if you only play one match that night? Or does it only reset the ~27k from the daily allotment and the rest that rolled over, will continue to roll over? IMO that is a bit too convoluted. I think whether you play or not, any unearned SP should rollover to the next day until the weekly reset. If you don't play one day then that 27K is rolled over to the next, if you play one or two games on any given day, then you forfeit your roll over and restart at yr 27K base earning. Simples. That is simple - so simple it makes no sense. Where's the logic in doing this? Penalize someone for playing with what little time they have by taking away all possible earned SP from him? |

D'Finn Rhedlyne wrote:I think it would be a task and half to keep track of everybodys SP in that way. Filtering out non-players, finding out who played what and when. Good idea, but hard work for the Dev's. Then again what do I know... I just shoot people and die a lot.... Speaking of experiences i've had as a map maker in other games - it's a simple code to make an addition to the next days earnings. I'm not totally sure if my map making experiences actually hold any value as this is actual programming - but the idea is really quiet simple and the same. |

I think you missed what I was talking about. Here is an example. Lets say I do not play at all for 3 days (from the start of the week). Ok, so that now means on the 4th day, I will have all the past days SP rolled over plus the 4th days cap. Each day nets 27k, so 4 days worth would be 108k cap total on the 4th day. Now lets say on that 4th day I only play a few matches and unexpectedly have to stop playing for whatever reason. With your system you are suggesting all the previous rollover, that wasn't earned, be forfeited during that days reset. Which would mean on the 5th day I would only have 27k in my SP 'pool'. Sorry, but no. The very simple idea presented by the OP is flawless. Still not enough SP imo, but we can get over that. Indeed we can. Cerebral made a point in another thread in saying that a person with 1 year of SP built up vs a guy with 2 months would be on the same level - we all have caps on our skills.
I'd say this discussion touches more on giving people the ability and knowledge that they could catch up without worrying if there lives would destroy any opportunity they have here. An SP system people can get behind does much more then simply fix our problems - it gives people faith. |

Think if we send CCP enough mails asking for there comment on the SP system they'd tell us there thoughts for once? Cause this kinda crap happens way too often - us wanting change and CCP not telling us what they want |

Indeed we should keep it alive - but it also should be moved to the Feedback section. Maybe even copy and paste the subject there - though I don't see any reason to discuss this further - everyone seems to be of one mind on this issue now. |

Umbat Boki wrote:I think CCP considered this idea. If I remember this correctly, they told that "SP pool" was a solution they discussed.
So, they obviously didn't like it. Why? I think because 27k SP cap is quite small and they want everyone to play every day instead of playing just one day. If you receive 10k SP every match, it's only 16 matches to get weekly cap. This is easily done in one day. Therefore if SP pool is implemented, there won't be enough reasons to play every day as you can easily reach the weekly cap in one day.
Also, if I understand this right, by getting passive SP booster you get about the same amount of SP by not playing at all as a player who grind every day, but without any boosters.
This is tough, yes, but get real, DUST is a business project which must provide some income.
This i why I want CCP to state there intent with some of these changes they're making. This thread wouldn't exist if CCP came forth and said what you just did - wouldn't even take 5 minutes to type it up. Looking at there other posts - doubt it would even take them 2 minutes.
Subsiding these wants really take nothng - most people just want to understand - and if they can't then they come up with there own theories and work with that. And those theories leads to discussions CCP probably finds pointless while we think it's productive. But how are we to know? |

All possible SP you were capable of earning that week would get deleted as the new week comes. |

how bout if the roll back gave diminishing returns when it adds to the next day? Or perhaps even week. This gives newbs a chance to get out of militia at least somewhat quickly and let them explore a bit without giving everyone a big dose of SP. |
