With Open Beta around the corner, it would be great if the DEV's could allow us to create larger squads. I know we have been QQ ing over it for the last few months. But with the amount of players coming in, 4 player squads wont be very useful. You would have to create a lot squads per CORP to put one experienced player to teach 3 newbies. This wont go very well for the experienced player if he wants develop his own SP, ISK, KDR and so on... |

Thats true about OB's, may be they can double or triple the requirements fro OB's in that case. Depends on the size of the squad of course. We reached 3 OB's with 3 players multiple times. |

I agree with 6 player squad too. Its ideal for the team size at the moment. 8 player squad in the future. |

Selrache wrote:the problem is not with the squad size but in the grouping of squad... squad of 4 is ok... IF you can group squad together
I'm down for that too, as long as we can get our players to play together. |

I agree with the newbie expect of it. Most of our players get cheesed off and leave because they cant play together. From the FPS perspective of it, its very important. If every one is playing in small groups in different games, larger clans loose that sense of teamwork and lack the interest. With the use of UVT for CORP chat, that sense of being part of a crew is missing too. Not everyone can afford a UVT or willing to pay AUR on BETA. Most of the older FPS crews end up chatting and having fun in the que, while fixing loadouts and discussing issues. I'm saying 2 hours of shooting and atleast 45 mins of chatting. That sense of clan/community is limited in Dust.
They can have proper matchmaking and fix the newbie/team balance issues. |

As Selrache mentioned earlier, they could atleast allow us to join two squads or Que two squads for matches. |

Up until now on SiSi CCP have been forcing us into the battles they want us in, because the #1 priority was for them to get data about the testing. With the move to TQ, and then the open beta, the priority changes to the players (us) having fun.
Well thats for CORP battles or Contracts for now. Not exactly talking about that are we? Can you take two squads to an Ambush or Skirmish? other than pure luck? |

Also, afaik, we are just thrown into random ambush/skirmish matches. In the future, we will be able to see a list of 'contracts' from NPC corporations and choose to fight for one of them...thus if we are communicating with another squad, we can simultaneously accept the same contract and play together.
Really Looking forward to it... We have a lot of players coming in. Win or loose, we'd like to go through it together. |

Thats true, But 4 good squads on each side would make the game extremely interesting.... |

Fivetimes Infinity wrote:For random battles having one four-man squad on the opposite team working together often means you've lost. Your random people will need to be particularly good to outmatch the power of an organized group like that.
Having even larger squads will mean that random battles will often be even more stacked. You will have little chance of being able to beat an enemy team with 6 of its members working closely together if your team is mainly comprised of random jackoffs.
In short, organized play is cool and playing with your corp/friends is a good thing, but people need to be able to log on, hit Random Battle, and be reasonably certain they aren't going to get farmed in game after game by organized people working together as part of a corp squad. If squads get bigger, the odds of being able to get a decent game goes down, and the people playing Dust casually will get discouraged and go play something else.
The issue regarding new players remain. But they could atleast allow two Squads to go in a match or allow us a 6-8 player squad. The thing is, every Corp would gladly do that and the chances of being stomped in a PUB match would decrease. It would actually be an even or close enough battle, depending on the CORPs involved.
You'd have 8 players from same CORP on your side and 8 players from other corps on the other side. CORP battles without contracts? No waiting time and good practice overall. |
