And one thing to remember is that open beta IS pretty much a 'final release' in a sence that after that all things after that is just tweaking, refinging and adding expansions. Same as in EVE.
And back in the day when EVE 'lauched' it went to boxed release at first that was percieved as a releace, but in reality there hasn't been official big announcement, afaik, of end of open beta phase for EVE. So technically even EVE is still in open beta phase. |

But the problem is that it appears the final wipe is happening before the open beta (I'm not sure what date it's supposed to open, but it's not the 10th). Future players who aren't in the closed beta have no chance of starting on a level playing field.
