But there was a fatal flaw with it.
I thought to myself, "Self, why not create a Logi account, and then spec him for sniper?" Seemed reasonable. Pros: Can carry ammo and a drop link to get you back to those hard to find places on respawn Has plenty of PG and CPU Comes with militia armor repair in case you get countersniped and the guy doesn't headshot you
Cons: No sidearm Larger scan presence. Looks strange
With basic SP I was able to spec for the NT-511 rifle and only had to spec 2 levels in PG and still had plenty left over. And it's all with militia gear on the starter fit. Pretty cost effective.
However, I found one huge flaw with this rig. I can't snipe. Not even a little bit. Not with a Tactical, a charged, or the 511.
But I still like the idea. I put it out to the masses for someone that can snipe to give it a try and lemme know how it goes. |

I have two different logi sniper fits, works just fine. I use the Sever suit for both of them. The only difference between them is the rifle used. I carry a drop uplink and a nanohive, both militia BPO's. Actually everything is BPO except the rifles which are the Farsight (or Specialist depending on how many I have on hand) and Thale's. |

I have a Scout but normally run Logi. Real Logi, not the Militia based Assault Logi. Three Equip slots make the Sniper options sooo much more entertaining. Hives, RE and Proxies ... Oh My! |

Thanks for the replies fellas.
So does this mean that Logi is the preferred method for distance Sniping? And if so do you create your char based on the logi or the sniper? Which would be more cost effective/SP effective?

No secondary for the OHSHI moments is a game breaker for me. Use compact nanos for ammo / hp regen and use your secondary to get to a supply depot. |

Well, that depends on what you're looking to do. A scout suit has a lower profile so it's easier to sneak around with but if you max out Dropsuit Command and Profile Dampening and add a dampener on a logi or assault suit you should be in the neighborhood. If you're going to set up a camp in the hills I would go scout suit, if you're going to try run and gun with a sniper rifle I'd go assault suit. But that's me. I try to min/max my fittings getting the most bang for the buck, but I try and use BPO's as much as possible except for weapons unless I need more punch for some reason. SP wise, it's your character, whether the cost is worth it or not is up to you. Again, it depends on what you're looking to do. I also have scout suits set up for sniping as well. But I have scout suits set up for assaulting, hacking, sprinting... Logi and assault suits set up for sniping, AV... |

I agree, it is a pain in the arse. But, gotta try out different things see what works and what is fun to play whether it works or not. I really enjoy running around in a Dragonfly scout suit with the exile though I can't carry a nanohive because I carry a drop uplink instead with a stamina booster, speed booster and a shield extender. All MBPO's. I can't fit a side arm or grenades on it due to CPU/PG capacity so when I run out of ammo in an ambush map full of blueberries it gets a little hectic... Had to start meleeing a heavy yesterday in that situation, and was actually saved by a blueberry. Suprised the hell outta me... But it was fun! Off topic I know. Sorry. I'll stop now. |

But this is the beauty of Dust....noone has the same dropsuit and the configurations are numerous. You see heavies as snipers, heavies with lasers, scout/logisupport, assault with shotty, logis going full assault, etc.
Dust is awesome |

No it isn't. I found my first Heavy/Sniper and it sucked. I put an entire Sniper clip into that thick headed Merc and it was still standing.
Or that could be the Hit Detection Bug and Dust would be great once again. |
