Hey all, just wondering if you guys think playing EVE online is a must if you want to play DUST 514. I know they are connected, so will EVE players have a huge advantage over those who do not play EVE? Another question...Is it way too late to start playing EVE? It seems like such a great game and I've always wanted to try it, but I feel like I would never be able to go anywhere since the majority of people playing are already so advanced and have been for years. Tell me what you think, thanks. |

no, eve is unique, because it doesnt work like your thinking, it's hard to explain, but anyone can join eve at any time and carve out a success it just takes alot of thought and time.
just because someones been training in EVE for 10 years doesnt mean they can bring all that training to bear at once vs you, they just have more fits available to them
the infamous goons started late and they ended up snuffing out a huge alliance
we dont know yet if we'll be able to transfer isk from eve to dust, but you can get buy in lesser gear ppl do it all the time |

If they link ISK in DUST to EVE (which they must with contract payments and such) I imagine someone in EVE can finance their life as a mercenary. So yes. |

Dust 514 for Eve is another ISK-sink.. so dont worry ISK will be flow.
To OP: try EVE  . If you want fight , you will find it. If you want only support your duster .. no problem either.
Even 1 month eve player can do a lot of things.
But if you dont have patience... there will be hard to get it.
Think about Eve as ... your second life ;) |

and it takes A SPECIAL MINDSET...
I couldn't do it, I even had a veteran player backing me when i started and I still just couldn't get into it.
part of that may be that I hate the whole MMORPG farming/mining. the other part maybe the CLOCK for skills
IDK but I hated playing eve I love the watching the videos, loved to log in and just stare at the stars, ship designs
and I like the Lore behind it, I just can't get into the game

:D I think it was 25th or 26th trial account that finally hooked me into EVE. |

Other than the culture of eve online and knowing what the people of new eden will offer in terms of trust honor and companionship (or the very common lack thereof) eve online will not give a pure dust 514 player any real advantages other than not getting backstabbed. |

I like to think for individuals financially itGÇÖs not something to worry about. Then again when all our gear finally becomes player produced we might see a few market tidal waves that cause some problems.
So first year I would say you wonGÇÖt be at a disadvantage because its lol faction war and all gear is magically seeded.
In the longer run this really might not be the case tho.
So no and yes/maybe hope this helps.
If youGÇÖre a ceo then get your ass on eve just to get a little insight even if itGÇÖs a free trial. |
