I have frequently been playing your beta from what i belive was version 0.6. Had a lot of fun with the game so far, but I'm reluctant to say that the game seem to have issues when it comes to sound levels. No other videogames/video have the same problems when used on my playstation. Wether this be a compression rate issue from when the soundparts was mixed down, or simply set to high when inserted into the game i do not know. All i can say is that there is heavy distortion during intro video, and during various gameplay. In order to get the same result as your game does to my setup, i have to up the volume 300% on my tv when playing other games or watching tv/movies.
Hope you solve this, cause i want to turn it up more :)
Kind Regards, a long time fan of EvE. |

when i refer to 300%, im talking about an 18 decibel diffrence on my dust client compared to other media. As most sound engeneeres know, a 6 db increase is a 100% increase in sound volume. I would recommend talking to your sound department about compression ratioes and asking if its compressed with a limiter set to -6 db (wich is the standard in commercials etc) or if its compressed to -12 db as is the standard for media in general. I suggest taking this issue serious, as to many people are not educated enugh to recognice this kind of issue. |

Your gonna burn alot of speakers out there!! Just a heads up.. Just quit netflix and turned on D514 to see if the server is up, and it gets me every time. Let me give you an example; When running other games, i normally have my tv set for 20-30, netflix 30-40. Its a scale going up to hundred. I saw my Pink floyd blueray last nigth, and had it at 50. No distorting, no issues.. Load dust client, and i have to put it between 4-6, not to have heavy distorting. To be completly frank, it sounds like the intro is distorting no matter what.
This is the same type of distorting when you have either recorded the audio with no limiter and a heavy compressor, or just compressed the **** out of it. Sorry the language.. I'd offer to clean up the original audio files myself, but at the moment im between studios.
As a long time artist and sound engenieer, i would be VERY unsatisfied had I got this back from mastring. I can just hope you understand what im talking about, and have it fixxed before going into open beta.
Since I highly doubt you would contact me privatly, but at least talk to a sound engeneer and find out what is wrong.
Edit: I should add that My media system is made for recording and mastring, beeing part of my private work area (homestudio) I detect issues like these very easy, and this is the second time I'm bringing it to your attention.
Edit 2: Can not find the first thread, maybe it was on my first character i made. |
