just got my proto swarms and have to say i'm glad I skilled into them they pack a punch, even before I put the damage mods on, although I've run into a few things I don't quite like.
1:ammo capacity is the same though the swarm launcher skill tree.
2:can't lock on to something if it is not hostile(exs: untaken turrets)
3: missiles s are rather slow and easy to avoid mind you I prefer not being in front of a tank where they can see them coming (and by proxy me) but it happens and it's frustrating
4:the lock on will sometimes not activate for a second after taking a shot.
5:splash damage increase from skills doesn't seam to do anything as the swarms lock on and hit the target not around it.
6:they will sometimes curve around structures to hit targets(not a bad thing for me but it's something it shouldn't do)
and somethings I do like
1:tracking systems make lavs no problem the way swarms can do a 180 saving my clone many times.
2: fast fire rate compared to forge guns
3:being a light weapon I can move from place to place quickly and easily.
4:blowing stuff up just makes me happy and in a game anything that can make me smile(read: cackle like a loon) is a +1 for me
while having a few problems the proto swarms are fun to use and I see myself using them in the future +1 ccp good job

Swarm launchers are one of the weapons I'm happier with in terms of balance. I think a touch less on the damage, maybe 275 instead of 300 but I don't think they are completely broken at thier current damage level. The reason for a slightly lower damage is to help define the threat of the differant tiers. While militia and regular would still do significant damage, it would make it tougher to one shot more basic LAVs and make it a smaller threat to dedicated assault vehicles. But swarm launchers benefit from one of if not the biggest percentage increase in damage from tier to tier since they add missiles to the volley. There are also a few technical fixes to happen too but otherwise they are working fairly well.
But the true state of AV balance is much harder to determine when the battles are much smaller.
Overall, I like em. |

Swarm Launcher missiles are not easy to avoid, especially not for a tank. You later contradicted yourself by saying that you liked how they could track LAVs by doing 180 degree turns, and that they could swerve around structures to hit their targets. Also, Swarm Launchers are going to be nerfed. I know this because they are overpowered. |

I had presumed that anyone reading this would know that by using cover you can avoid the swarm launchers it is rather simple and easy also the lavs that happens to are almost always out in the open or trying to run me over.
the comment I made about the missiles curving around buildings is a problem (as I mentioned) and it occurs very rarely , that will hopefully be fixed in the next patch.
also how do you mean that the swarms are overpowered, and how will they be nerfed?
thanks for your comment and I hope you can answer my questions. |

The only time Ive seen Swarms go around structures is when its fairly close to the target. If you fire a swarm and a tank immediately moves behind a mountain the swarms will always strike the mountain. If you fire it and the tanker doesnt realize theyre coming until theyre pretty close to hitting then it will track their signature and sometimes go around the cover. In my opinion, this is perfect and working as intended. I use the swarms a lot and can honestly say they are working as intended (the core firing mechanics could be reworked, but at least they dont slam into stuff to the left or right of me as soon as they come out of the tube now) and they are in no way overpowered. Ive fired at many a militia LAV that find a way to avoid my swarms despite me believing I had a very clear firing path when I released the salvo. |
