Standing snipers just make easier targets IMHO. Snipers are prolly the only people that can see the entire field. They should be calling out stuff and such. We have 3 Red Star snipers that run and snipe. 2 we call the Delta Snipers |

Definition of a Sniper ;- A sniper is a highly trained marksman who operates alone, in a pair, or a team who maintain close visual contact with the enemy and engages targets from concealed positions or physical distances exceeding the detection capabilities of the enemy personnel, without being detected. These sniper teams operate independently, with little combat asset support from their parent units.
Snipers are meant to cause confusion in the enemy ranks. If any enemy is pushing forward snipers are supposed to push them back. It is supposed to make the enmy think and gues where you are. A good sniper is also well hidden. He is supposed to make the enmy guess his/her position and try and hunt them down. Snipers are also supposed to communicate enemy movements for instance if an enemy is pulling in a tank and how much shield/armor that tank has.
This effectiveness of the sniper is lost when he is running and gunning. It also makes him an easy target. Although this may be fun its not using the snipers full potential. Its the game thing as having a heavy sniping. Totally wasteful.
Sniper across the map takes skill. You have to lead your shots. Anyone who goes 15 kills with a sniper rifle across the map is a good sniper. |

Snipers will instantly hit wherever you are aiming (Except for the experimental version, I guess) There really is 0 skill required in sniping atm. It's honestly just point + shoot. No recoil, no sway. No travel time. No drop. There's no challenge to it.
LOLTroll. You mean to tell me hittting a moving target is easy and requires no skill. I can understand if the target is standing still. I would like to see you snipe and get 15 + kills and 0 deaths in a match. |

Sleepy Zan wrote:Fine smart guy technically it's called a designated marksman And the only leading you have to do is to compensate for lag and the distance you have to lead remains constant no matter the range, I really don't think traditional sniping takes skill atm. Not until they add ballistics instead of hit-scan for snipers. Also would like to mention that the effectiveness of sniping from a vantage point is usually overrated and probably won't serve an effective purpose until we get larger maps. You can go 40-0 sniping from a mountain top and your team can still suffer horribly. Usually another man on the ground makes more of a difference, I have tested it over and over again.
Sniping in this game is broken. In all the FPS games I have played sniping is generally an OHK. Here it is not unless you line up a headshot. Generally its 2 shots. Unless you are shooting at someone standing still, you have to anticipate the players movements.
With that said sniping across maps is generally 400 mts or more. Its not only lag and distance that you have to compenstate over here but also sensitivity of the controller. Thats in the gaming world. In the real world there are factors such as wind speed, your location, breathing, mounts, distance to your target, type of gunpowder used and the earths magnetic field.
There also other factors to consider such as dropsuit loadouts and enemy skill levels. Have you ever tried to snipe a dude with his proto gear on and kill him? How many snipers in this game can say that they have killed experienced players in proto gear? It would take a minimum of 3 rounds to take someone like that out. Now please tell me thats easy and anyone can do it?
And how is a sniper usefull if he is in he middle of the battle and cant spot the battle ground. How can he relate to his team that there are 5 red dots heading towards A? You may as well put an AR and move forward in the field.
Snipers are meant to cause havoc in the enemy lines. Divide and conqour. Confuse and confound. These are a snipers themes.
With that said there are scrub snipers out in the game. Barring Gem Cutter I yet have to see a really good sniper in this game. There are a few average snipers out there and I would put the ones that atleast get the kills. And then there are the scrub snipers that cant do anything for **** and who go 2-0, 3-0, 4-1.
In the end we can agree to disagree. |
