Look, BSotT doesn't try to recruit people from other corps, BSotT recruits freelancers or works out a deal with a corp CEO. Where you got the idea that BSotT tries to steal mercs, I don't know.

Players who can be bought from a corp and sellout like that, arent going to be loyal to anyone. I say good riddance, as they obviously can't be trusted.
Now say if somebody was going to leave a corp anyway, and XY corp finds this out and says to the player "Hey, if you come over to us we'll hook you up" then that is fine, because that player is fair game. But to leave a corp only because somebody offers to buy you out, lacks integrity and honor. |

This yes. And we do mostly play these kinds of games for the social aspect no? I would never just leave a corp just to get some ISK. The clan or corp needs to be checked out thoroughly first. If you don't like and enjoy your partners in evil then whats the point? Back in MAG I had friends (and still do) that I played with for almost 3 years. It comes to a point were you do "tactical manouvers" on quite the high level without even thinking about it. I knew I had the guys at my back, coming in killing whoever killed me and picking me up after I ran in and cleared half the room first, and so on.
I had one guy travel acros europe to hang out with me for a week and two deadly bluedots actually got married after the american branch had a hang out in vegas. You just don't get that sort of thing when jumping from clan to clan. In MAG there were a sort of flavor of the month clan as many of the elites formed, abandoned, and rinse and repeat, its stupid.
And what good is money anyway? Yes running protogear all the time is hard to finance on these pub matches alone. I for one would be very happy just to get those roughly 25% isk I come short of sustaining my 240k fittings. If you are a good player then falling back to a 120K fitting from time to time really shouldn't be a problem. |

yea it's like the way a corp streamlines itself- have to let ppl go, let the loyalist stay around, if there that easily bribed and we dont even have real isk yet then better off without them. just imagine when real amounts of isk from EVE comes in if there gonna jump ship for just a few million imagine what they'd do with 100s of million being offered |

By definition, sure, we are mercs. But I would toy with the notion that the corporation, as a whole, are the real mercs. And the individual player is bound by their own ethics and loyalty.
I mean think about it, most of us join a corp to play with people we enjoy playing with, to get to know one another, and to group up with other highly skilled players. Bonds grow and loyalty is formed from respect to our fellow corp members. A merc, by definition, couldn't care less about loyalty or growing friendships, they are only in it for themselves and will sell to their highest bidder. But this is generally contrary to how we, as gamers, actually treat online games and the people we meet in these games.
If you have no loyalty to your corp or to the people you have met, played with, and became friends with, then IMO that reflects your own real-life morals. Your character is a merc, not you as the person behind the controller.

Same reason I chose girls who know what they don't like over girls who know what they do - it's harder to see a person for who they are when they give you the same core frame as everyone else with there idea of a 'nice' persona. See them for what they are then you can judge a person for there true value. And anyone willing to be bought has nothing to hide. Soon as the cash is up - they're gone. If they like you they stick around - if they don't they leave. What's the harm? :)

Yeah, it does. in return for 5% of your income you get backed up by a bunch of people running better gear and vehicles and the corp as a whole has a bigger sway in a universe where everything is for sale. |

I have no problem with this action. If a player joins your corp because you offered them a large amount of ISK and they don't stick around for long, that's your loss for trying to buy someone. If a player stays though, they must not be staying just for the ISK.
I've been offered ISK to join other corps and if I was a lesser person (and not already CEO ), I would of took their ISK and headed back to my original corp. After all, I held up my end and joined their corp although not for long. |
