I played my last game of DUST last night that I will play in a very very long time. It's not that I don't like the game, but where I'm going for my job I won't have internet access and if I do, it won't be used for video games  I expect to be back in five years, lol. Maybe earlier but I doubt it.
Dust has a lot of potential, especially since CCP plans on patching in well into the future. Right now the game is in a surprisingly good state all things considered. Lag has been severely reduced, balance is getting much better, and game modes are becoming more fun to play. All the building blocks of a good game. These elements are not perfect but they are on pace to work well at launch.
Many things still need work however. At this point I am worried about the integration of EVE and DUST and corp battles in general. This is the element that will attract most players and adds the most dynamicism to the game. At this point there is little motivation for corps to battle each other and if EVE corps aren't offering up contracts on the regular, then there will be none at all.
A big part of this link is easy communication. I know this feature will be added, but it needs to be absolutely perfect. No bugs, easy ways to contact leaders of EVE corps (and vice versa), and good ways for EVE corps to create affiliate DUST corps whether by merging or initiation.
The FPS mechanics will be perfected in time, but it is the EVE-DUST integration that matters. Without that, it is just another FPS and god knows how many of those are out there.
Since I won't be around to see how this all plays out, you guys better not the **** this up.
If you see me online, chances are it's my brother. Tell him to gtfo my account, he's ruining my KDR.
