I Use a assault type II DS, the base sniper rifle with a damage modifier, shield extenders, a Toxin SMG, nanohives, and a militia armor repair module. all the basic necessities for long range combat and reconnaissance. My priorities when sniping are (from top priority to least important) enemy snipers/campers, stragglers, cappers, medics, heavies, and grunts.
Tip#1 : whenever you are shooting from your hiding place and you are suddenly compromised?, fend off you attackers as best you can, and if you die or survive the encounter, make no attempt to return to that particular area, always assume that the enemy is the most patient bastard on earth. it will take some effort to find a new hiding place, but mostly its worth it.
Tip# 1.5: have a secondary weapon equipped in your sniper fitting. always keep it out until you either found a potential sniping position or you are moving in between nests. you will stand a better chance of surviving an encounter with a red dot or two if you are found.
Tip #2: If you see a red dot from far away, you have him in your sights but you worry that you might miss? Dont shoot unless you are confident that you will hit. you will save a few extra rounds of ammunition that way. Instead report it to your squad if they are nearby, they will take care of the rest. which lead me to number 3
Tip #3: Always maintain constant communication with your squad, if you decide to hang back and watch the world through the scope, by all means go ahead. but at least make an attempt to warn your squad of any future threats they might encounter from your line of sight. The old saying proves true : as a sniper, you are the eyes of your commander. rehearse simple , direct phrases for when spotting a red dot or possible courses of action.
Will post more tips when i have time

At this map, to the left of A, the lower of the two hills is a great spot for providing cover fire towards B and C, and is able to defend A quite well. In addition, running and jumping off the top is high enough to use inertial dampeners, allowing you to land safely and escape if someone attacks you from A. Anyone else use this spot?
At grid D3? (referring to the map) I might know where the spot is, i like it because it overlooks B and C, but its also becoming well known to the campers, had to pick off quite a few in the last few matches i used a sniper fit.

D4 actually. The lower of those two small rock-spike things. Excellent for counter snipping and providing overwatch for your squad/team.
Huh, i learned something new today. never thought of using that place, you'd think with all the mayhem between C and A, that place would be a nightmare waiting to happen. glad to know someone found their hunting grounds haha. my spot would be on the side of the mountains just north-east of the supply depot in grid D5. there's a small, slanted ledge i hide behind so that i wont be popped by snipers from B5 and from stragglers from A |

Finn Kempers wrote:Before the reset I played a Heavy sniper, running the Kaalakiota (most expensive sniper, its a tactical), Skinweave heavy, damage mods, 'Six kin' SMG, no grenades (what sniper needs them?!) and either profile dampeners or armour rep. I typically went with assaults or spots where people place nanohives (as well as having ammo capacity skill). The Heavy suit meant unless headshotted that I would stay alive after several shots, as well as making the SMG worthwhile. My skills for it were sniper OP 5 Prof 4, Weap 5 (Those 3 are ESSENTIAL by giving maxed out little sway and 30% increase damage output). I also had sidearm sharpshooter and various CPU skills, as well as SMG operation. These arent essential, just makes life easier. I remember though someone saying bullets having damage drop-off, so I wasnt sure whether to get light weapon sharpshooter or not. Can anyone confirm this useful for snipers?
i know you and your fatboy-fitting, i almost tagged you a few times D:< Lol all jokes aside though , no. as far as i know, Light weapon sharpshooter dosent have damage drop-off. simply increases the maximum effective range for any Light weapon ( AR's, Sniper Rifles, and I'd hate to admit it, but lasers as well.) |
