As I haven't seen one, I have decided to make a thread to discuss various snipping tactics and how snippers can be a force multiplier for their teams. Please keep posts constructive, not "OMG snipers r OP". And as much as we all may hate them, please refrain from posting about redline KD/R padding kittens who do nothing to help their team. They give us all a bad name.
First off, I would like to share my main fitting. I use a 'Valor' Scout Dropsuit, with a Militia Shield Extender BP, Militia Armor Repair BP, Militia CPU Extender BP, Militia Scrambler Pistol BP, Militia Repair Tool BP (I would run drop uplink, but I don't have enough CPU), Militia Locus Grenade BP, and Charge Snipper riffles. My skills are mostly aimed at making this fitting better (i.e. Snipper Operation IV and Scrambler Operation III). The reasons for the blueprints is that the only thing that this fitting costs is the charge snipper riffle, so I have no qualms about dying in the line of duty. My best match using this fitting was a skirmish, in which my KD/R was 18/0, and I had ~1600 war points.
When I use this fitting, I am able to sneak behind enemy lines to capture objectives, in addition to providing counter-snipper and recon for my squad/team. This, in my opinion, is the ideal way to use snipper fittings, as it is useful to the team.
So let's discuss. |

Yeah, I find myself often wishin I had a nanohive to help spawn in teammates. However, the Bp doesn't fit.. yet. When I get the skills, it is definitely going on.

Yeah, as I said, I mainly use a scout snipper. They have room for improvement, and should have more dropsuit based perks (i.e. higher jumping, etc.). |

I just wanted to share a snipper perch that I have recently learned to love. At this map, to the left of A, the lower of the two hills is a great spot for providing cover fire towards B and C, and is able to defend A quite well. In addition, running and jumping off the top is high enough to use inertial dampeners, allowing you to land safely and escape if someone attacks you from A. Anyone else use this spot? |

(referring to the map) I might know where the spot is, i like it because it overlooks B and C, but its also becoming well known to the campers, had to pick off quite a few in the last few matches i used a sniper fit. D4 actually. The lower of those two small rock-spike things. Excellent for counter snipping and providing overwatch for your squad/team. |
