Even if there is a reset, our knowledge of the game mechanics will give us a clear advantage against players of equal skill levels.
I don't think we will have a reset though - not until we move to TQ. |

Not sure about this - TQ does not have the infrastructure in place to support OB from Eve players, last I checked. They would have to do a major patch to get this done. I could be wrong, but I still think the move to TQ is this summer and will be announced at FanFest. |

I have to agree. Given that Eve Online has recently undergone it's latest free expansion (Retribution) which is big as hell, it won't be until summer after Fanfest 2013 when we start seeing the next expansion. Only then can Eve Online truly have the chance to have a stable infrastructure in place to allow Dust 514 to connect directly to Eve Online and use the orbital bombardment feature.
I would say we will definitely still be in Singularity but in Open Beta.
...
Unless CCP secretly embedded a code into the Retribution expansion that includes the OB feature and just needs the switch to be turned on. Tinfoil hat? |

We will need a reset because I wouldn't want to play against characters three months strong in a game like this if I was the new guy in the yard. |

I wouldn't read too much more into it than is written there.
But -
It seems like the next build might actually be OpenBeta ie February'ish
There has been effectively ZERO testing of Faction Warfare.
However the various bits and pieces are there to have Faction Warfare.
Socketed maps in skirmish, corp contract system, OB, and the player tournament are all major pieces of Faction Warfare.
I'm going to be very disappointed in CCP if they don't manage to test Faction Warfare before it hits the live server :\
Ergo - MaybeGäó we'll have some actual FW testing in January. |

I don't think will be testing FW at all. In my interview with CMDR WANG he stated that the contracts for FW will start out as NPC contracts same as the ones we see in our Corp Battle contracts. The planetary effect on SOV in FW is already in use in TQ. You have stated everything else. I really don't see much else that needs testing here. I think will be going strait into it |

Having the pieces work individually is not the same as end to end on a live instance with your paying customer base.

I agree that this shouldn't be looked into too much,
As for FW, I'm holding out that while this is very likely the real change may simply be the Conquest mode (or at least the preliminaries). That or better corporation v corporation options are the only things I can imagine "ramping up recruitment" would benefit. Whatever it is, it represents stakes and corporation conflict and those are both satisfy.
Also, there is the secondary market to consider as Eve Online's Tranquility server already has Dust 514 features worked into the mainframe (planetary positions, Dust 514 market items (just placeholders and default prices), pod/inf chat, OB ammunition and equipment, etc.). This being brought to the next expansion could be a lot of crazy fun as things get put into players hands alongside the ability to fight for Factions and increase corporation influence. |

Well for those of you not digging around we just got fed new information.
FW has been somewhat live in dust 514 (thought nowhere near the final iteration we been assured.)
Those corporation battles... errrm uuuhm yeah, you just took over a piece of dirt eve side every time you win one of those for your faction.

Random thought:
What if CCP set up 12 districts/maps for corporations to battle over and the controlling Corp could receive a few million ISK per day of control. The districts/maps may or may not have "real" space in New Eden. This could allow for CCP to test the corp battle mechanics as well as battle timers and other areas related to corp battles and area control. |
