Since shooting is only part of the Dust experience, with the other part being planetary development/industry and trade etc. Are we going to test those before Dust enters Open Beta? |

Unlikely. Reason being next build I think is supposed to be open beta, and they probably can't add anything that major in without a new build. |

to be honest sometimes i think that is the biggest problem , they didnt think shooting was important in a FPS . I rather CCP make a good shooter than a ok one with crafting. Especially when it has a 9 year old MMO that solved all the abilities your looking for. Just because its in Eve is even more reason for it not to be in Dust. |

Problem with that approach is ability to directly affect DUST mercs ability to wage war if manufacturing of goods is completely in EVE side, by making it so that there isn't any gear to wear(supply cartel) or price fixing the items.
Also there needs to be a more compelling reason/economic incentive for EVE side to invest into DUST side corp contracts. And currently there isn't any viable incentives. |

That really has nothing to do with the battlefield and more to do with CCP trying to sugar coat the connection in fear of losing subscriptions
If CCP cant make Eve players feel like they need Dust players maybe the connection is pointless. If they need us bad enough they will definitely supply us or risk losing territory and supplies. All the ISK is on Eve`s side anyways why not just use it instead of trying to compete and waste a good MMO connection.
Im looking for a Great FPS set in the Eve Universe, I dont need Eve to enjoy Dust . Meaning mining, crafting, and selling things on a market.Anything that bogs down that FPS experience will result in a lose lose situation for CCP.

may I be the first to welcome you to Eve online, where it is ran by carebears. SOON tm Dust will be ran by carebears, weapons will be nerfed, vehicles will be more nerfed, Cuz how can they reach accountant V when they die all the time........I think dust has gone down the toilet after the first build, some improvements....not many, which is also Why dust should have been open to active Eve subscribers only, u get to many kids from diffrent games that don't even get Eve or like it, so Why are they here? To become accountant level V...... total troll except for Eve players only part, ps3 community is ruining a game most Eve players have paid real money through the teeth for, though I've plexed the last 3 years of my subs on 5 accounts......so I don't count. |

why would they though, that was the whole point of dust was to get a new playerbase not recreate the same one or it would of been just a add on to Eve PC.
Eve players just seem like ex girlfriends that just dont get the message the relationship is over. They made another genre on a whole different platform with the market strategy

You may be entitled to your opinion, but you are not entitled to your pulled-out-your-ass fact.
1. CCP is not sinking and will not be sinking for a long time considering the astonishing success of their latest expansion, Retribution following their restored reputation with Crucible and Inferno.
2. According to Forbes.com, CCP is now one of the few remaining companies that are not only still operating under the now-dated subscription model for a given MMO, they are also the only company experience consistent rise in new subscriptions year after year despite CCP's setback back in 2011.

If you are going to judge CCP as a company, you need to start doing your homework first. It's obvious you don't know anything about CCP at this point just like how you demonstrated your lack of knowledge of how New Eden economics works in other threads you posted in while pretending that you know more than everyone else.

The development team is already underway on the next DUST 514 release. We will continue improving on existing systems, but this time around in a more noticeable way. The path you will take from login to battle will see a near complete re-write, where the goal is to get you into the game as quickly and efficiently as possible. The spawn screen and deployment sequence will be made more informative and easier to use. You will also be seeing a number of new environments to play in, new dropsuits, new weapons and modules, and new vehicle roles.
It doesn't explicitly say anything about moving to TQ from what I see, but that doesn't mean CCP won't change their mind down the road. |

HEY LETS SHOW everyone OUR UNFINISHED WORK SO PEOPLE CAN STEAL OUR IDEAS :V Yet you constantly complain about the game. Constantly.
You seriously cannot believe that someone from the competition doesn't have someone in closed beta? All it took was $20 and a PS3.
As for sinking, Eve Online is growing players. CCP doesn't require Dust to make a go of it. If Dust doesn't fly it will go away. But being by CCP it will likely stay around and keep getting tweaked, sometimes a little and sometime a lot, until it turns out okay. This may be nothing more than a place holder until the PS4 is released. Who knows? Not you, that is for certain. |

I think it would be much nicer for Immersion into the EvE universe and Dust->Eve connection if there would be a meaningful connection (for both parties) as an incentive to interact instead of no incentive as is the case now.
Crm234 wrote: Were supposed to be Mercs and soldiers , with War in our blood and it just seems like everyone just wants to be Eve accountants lvl 5.
It would be silly to make a shooter and then remove the shooting part after tuning it for more than 9 months wouldn't it?
I imagine Planetary development and industry as a corp endeavor, which someone with the right roles can set up. Most soldiers (dust corp members) have to do nothing with it except protect the installations when needed and can play there merry game however they want. The funds gained from it can even be used for pew pew gear, so the only thing soldiers lose is some time, while they gain meaningful and emergent gameplay.
If you don't want any of it, just don't setup stuff on planets.... |

honestly i think Dust 514 is heading in the right direction [albeit at a crawling pace] as far as first person shooters go; concept art is great. the UI is pretty cool to a degree, etc .. i'd be a mere fanboy if i ignore the fact i had greater expectations at this point. am sort of disappointed about a number of things mostly pertaining to the shooter part of the game. i thought it would be a matter of getting used to it but it goes beyond that. the whole game needs work in nearly all aspects ... perhaps a LOT of work, if it wants to meet my standards anyhow. so for being in closed beta is sort of unnerving to me... sure, i will continue to play. it's one of the coolest ideas for a futuristic space otherworldly style FPS since.. well.. i don't wanna say it but.. Halo, so there .. what keeps nagging at me is the thought that Dust 514 is mediocre at this point because of its free-to-play nature? it's not like Unreal has not been around for years, or this is such novel concept as FPS. at the core, all of this has been done before already; the only actual novelty here is the inter-connectivity to the EVE universe. and coming from a company with CCP's accolades... well..
so i agree with those who thought "why not make an FPS first and model your way around that to add the networking/Eve universe jambalaya?"; 'cause it sure does not feel like it to me. then again, maybe am just missing the point as usual.

You are right that the pace is excruciatingly slow for even a closed beta, but we did demand CCP to take their time to make sure everything is going as smoothly as possible. In fact, many of us felt that the release for Dust in 2012 was too soon and that too many features were put in as opposed to addressing already existing issues that nagged us since Replication. Now that Chromosome has fixed all those issues and we are seeing progress on both Dust and Eve side of things, perhaps after the next build CCP should work on getting this game ready. But at the same time I don't want CCP to go rushing things like how big-name companies do nowadays.
In reference to other games like Halo, Far Cry, Elder Scrolls, etc. take a hard look at these games. Keep in mind that these games are finished and have been established for years already. Notice the bugs and glitches. They sure make Dust look complete by comparison.

Play Eve Online the game thats been in beta since 2003.
Actually a lot of issues have already been addressed thanks to Chromosome. Let me list the bugs/glitches/imblanaces that have been resolved as of now or have been resolved for some time.
1. [INVALID FITTING] bug 2. Map icons straying out of place when you scroll through the map overview 3. LAV no longer catapults 100 feet into the air when you bump a small pebble. 4. Swarm launchers can no longer clear a room full of enemy mercs while shooting at the floor. Some now even require lock on to function. 5. Chat bug that enabled a merc from one team to hear the conversation of a merc on the other team. Sometimes, both mercs could talk to each other. I have not run into this anymore once Precursor was released so I'm assuming this has been fixed. Please keep in mind this was before squad chat and corp chat was introduced. 6. Hard Freezes every three matches. One player reported that his PS3 broke after so many hard freezes. |

Can't fault you on any of those but the freeze bug I still got it (but not as often)
And thanks to chromosome and build before they robbed all the fun out the game, for all the bugs and glitches the builds prior to the last 2 were a hell of a lot more fun to play when they worked that is.
